"Should've figured it was too good to be true" Aatto whispered to himself. Looking around trying to make sense of his situation. It was dark out but that was not the problem his surroundings were. Trees, trees, trees and the occasional rock made up his environment and the heavy rain did not help in the slightest. As he navigated through this forest he was trying to remember what happened before his mind shut off. Slowly fragments of what have happened returned and each time they did he grimaced. And each time he remembered he felt an intense pain accompany the emotional pain as if a force was compressing his chest inward not allowing him to breath leaving him sweating and on the verge of collapsing. "What is this" he mumbled to himself as he clutched his chest with shaking hands. "Forget it........ Forget her" he coldly thought to himself "Agonizing over this isn't going to help. Might as well move on...... Like I always do."
Eventually Aatto found a path leading to the town. He managed to make it back to where he started. grabbing his belongings and placing the strap of the duffle bag over his shoulder he slowly made his way to the train station.
"Leave him...... and come with me. What can that loser do for you and your mother .....think about it "A husky voice said "I just might...... I just might" a feminine voice responded.
" Aaahhh!!!" with a jolt Aatto woke up breathing heavily. "argh just a nightmare" he thought to himself. He slowly shifted around to find a more comfortable position to sit on the train seat.
"Mhm wonder how much more until my stop" he wondered to himself while slowly scratching his chest. Just then he heard the sound of chimes "Attention passengers we are approaching Watergate station. if this is your final destination please gather your belongings and carefully exit the train" the message went on but Aatto stopped paying attention after he heard Watergate. He quickly gathered this things and exited the train..... and headed to his apartment
Three Weeks Later
"I'm home" Aatto sighed as he unlocked the door to his studio apartment. "Not that there is anybody to care" he thought to himself as he looked around the dump that he called his apartment. clothes thrown about the room, bed a mess and sink piled high with dirty dishes it was easy to say that he was a slob. "Guess ill go shower and get ready for work...... should I?" he thought to himself
"Why should I keep working there. what's the point?" he mumbled to himself "I mean I only had that job because of........" He couldn't finish the sentence. He stood there in silence until a loud ringing jolted him back to reality. He picked up his phone and quickly Answered.
"Hello" He calmly answered. "HHHHHEEEEELLLLLOOOOO!!!!!!" A loud flamboyant voice screamed into his ear causing him to jerk and nearly drop his phone. "Aatto darling how are you doing its been so looonnggg. If I didn't know any better I would have thought that you were avoiding me" The voice said. "That's not the case rrriiiggghhhtt"
With a sigh Aatto rubbed his neck and responded "Hey Stephen"
"ohh come on sweetie don't be cold. you know what to call me" the voice said
With a grimace Aatto responded "Right ah..... how ya been steph?"
"I have been marvelous thank you. By the by you are a tricky one to find even by my standards"
"Apparently not tricky enough" Aatto thought. Stephen was an old contact of Aatto's who could get you any and all information.... for a price. Aatto has worked with him on various occasions one of which was looking into his past. He was a decent person until something interesting caught his eyes and he became infatuated be it an object or a place, man or woman nothing was off limits for this guy it seemed
