"I'm sorry," I said softly while playing with the hem of my shirt. A tear fell slowly down my cheek, I was terrified. "Jesus Christ, Avery!" I winced at his aggression. "Do you understand what could have happened after pulling a stunt like that?!" I averted my eyes to the floor. "Well do you!" He was shouting only inches from my face. "I didn't mean to Kyle, it was an accident. I swear." I glanced up towards him. He had his hands on the back of his head and his fingers laced through his thick brown hair.
He looked up at the ceiling and slowly started pacing back and fourth. As he rounded back towards me he stopped. His hands dropped down to his sides and he looked he straight in the eye. He raised his hand slowly "Kyle..." I trembled. "Please, not again," I couldn't stop the gentle flow of tears running down my face. I looked him in the eyes, pleading. "Please, Kyle-" I was cut off by the strong impact of his fist to my face. I dropped to the floor, holding my throbbing cheek. I heard Kyle's foot steps walking away.
I didn't seem like he had an ounce of regret running in him. Soon enough I stopped hearing his steps and a rush if relief ran over me. But then he started walking again, but towards me. I tried to compose myself before he saw me. I didn't want to anger him more than previously done. He stopped dead in his tracks right in front of me.
I squeezed my shut when I felt his strong grip on my arm. He raised me off the floor and set me on my feet. I didn't even want to look at him. I kept my head down, staring at the floor. He gently placed his hands on my shoulders. "Avery, I," he stopped and took a deep breath. "Baby, I'm so sorry." He pulled me in for a hug, I didn't respond. My eyes were locked on the floor and arms glued to my sides. He pulled away and looked at me. "Baby, please look at me." No reaction.
He let out a deep sigh then moved a peice of hair behind my ear and kissed my forehead softly. "You should ice this," he said gently running his hand over the newly formed bruise on my face. Still, no response. "Okay," he said, obviously taken back by me not responding. "I love you." I said nothing.
He pulled his hand away from my face and clenched it into a fist. He sighed loudly, mumbled "whatever" and walked away angrily. I knew this would cause another arguement later but right now, I couldn't care less.
After a moment of processing what happened, I walked over to the kitchen to get some ice. It was nearing 1 am. Tired and pained, I creeped to the bedroom praying that Kyle decided to sit on the couch to watch TV or go outside to have a smoke. I didn't want to be anywhere near him. To my surprise he was standing at the window sill, leaning out slightly. I cocked my head to the side, confusion plastered my face. I didn't want to give him the pleasure of talking to me so I ignored him. Walking over to the closet I scan the room for weapons.
Kyle has a habit of stashing them and later, using them against me in arguements. Seeing that he has none in obvious view I change into some pajamas and climb into bed.~~~~
