"would you like to rest?" was all ryker could ask when her eyes started to drift closed. her chapped lips had moved, no sound leaking out causing her to quickly retract, nodding her head.
"if there's anything else you need..." he'd offered, his eyes too focused on studying hers to tell that she wanted to be left alone, "i'll be right down the hall, okay?"
she'd been way too focused on his words, taking her eyes off of his hand enveloping hers. her heart was going through noticeable palpitations, his voice being the only source of comfort as she laid back onto his plush pillows and watched ryker's pale pink lips as they moved mountains inside her mind.
she'd been way too focused, way too distracted.
that's why her eyes went to that unbearable stage of hopelessness and she shook helplessly, flinching back with tears spilling from her desperateness when ryker had reached to tuck loose hair behind her ear.
