"I um, ran into a boat and I'm really sore and-"
"Enough talking. You have answered sufficiently." Prince Louis turned around and swam away briskly. How rude. "Oh and, nice necklace." Prince Louis shouted from far away.
Harry picked up the fallen bracelet, the gold broken in half. Harry wondered how that was even possible, but he guesses it's because of how thin the cuffs were. Niall managed to pick up all the bags, nothing but the bracelet broken fortunately.
"Let's get a new bracelet." Niall grabbed Harry's hand and pulled him back inside the jewelry store, the gold pieces reflecting light everywhere.

"This is Sea Anemone park." Niall said, pulling Harry along as he swam to a secluded kelp forest. "We're going to work on your swimming."
Harry groaned pathetically, Niall dragging his dead weight until he let go, Harry sinking to the sand instantly. "I can not swim."
"Not yet." Niall corrected, making sure the kelp concealed them from public view. "Please get up, Harry!"
Harry sighed, but managed to get in an upright position with moderate struggle. "Happy now?"
"Very." Niall smiled. "Now, watch me and practice." Niall swam in a circle, tail fin flapping up and down, arms guiding him. It was graceful, movements fluid and careless; it was like a dance.
Harry tried and failed horribly, nearly swimming straight into a rock. He tried again and again and again and again. It was almost painful for Niall to watch. "Can I give up?"
"Here." Niall took Harry's hand and put it to his stomach, the warmth of his hand seeping into Niall's cool skin. "Feel the muscles flex when I swim."
Harry's eyes were trained hard on Niall's abdomen, his hand feeling the smooth skin and hard muscle underneath as it flexed when Niall swam around him slowly. It reminded Harry of a belly dancer, the way Niall's body rolled and seemed to flow gently in the water. Harry briefly wondered what it would be like if Niall was human, if Niall was under him, back arching and chest touching his. "I-I think I got it."
Niall backed away, eyes following Harry as he clumsily, but successfully swam around in the kelp forest. His chest constricted in fear as Harry barely dodged a rock, but sagged in relief when he saw there was no damage. "You're getting so much better!" Niall swam to Harry and threw his arms around Harry's neck.
Harry wrapped his arms around Niall's waist, arms barely resting on the scales of his blue tail. "Thanks to you."
Maybe it was the heat of the moment or simply destiny that they kissed; lips slotting together feverishly and chests flushed. Niall's fingers gripped Harry's long hair tightly, the silky strands smooth against his calloused hands. Harry's blunt nails were digging harshly into Niall's hip, never breaking the surface of tough merman skin.
Kissing underwater was especially different for Harry. He didn't have to pull back for breath, he could keep kissing Niall for as long as he wanted. Every moment was slow in the water, every touch tender, and the water kept their bodies cool. Kissing Niall was the best thing he ever experienced, nothing could ever compare.
"Put your hands in the air!" They broke apart instantly, hearts racing ferociously. "You're under arrest!"
~.~.~.
The dungeon was dark, smelly, and cramped, but that wasn't even the worst of it. Harry was alone, the last time he'd seen Niall was when he was shoved into the cell door, black tears streaming down both of their faces.
Harry never knew merfolk had black tears or that they could even cry.
Harry was scared, but it was just more than that. He was fearful for what would happen to Niall. Associating with humans was illegal and Harry hoped, prayed that it wasn't punishable by death. Niall was too perfect to die. Harry was fearful for Maura and Bobby. They were innocent in all of this, but because Niall's parents had taken him in, they were responsible for part of the crime.
Harry didn't care about himself though. He knew he was going to die no matter what. The necklace's magic wouldn't last forever and he was sure to be executed for being a human. He briefly wonders if there is a law against impersonating a merman.
Harry only has hope that Niall doesn't need him when he's gone.
Harry feels regret for leaving his family. They'll never know what happened to them, but at least they'll have a somewhat accurate death; death at sea.
Harry never imagined that he would die like this. Who could? Harry can only be patient and hope that he can see Niall one more time, just a glimpse would be enough, it doesn't even have to be that much. All he needs is a sound from the blonde or intel from someone, anyone, that Niall will be okay.
"Get up, human!" The word was sneered as if it burned the guard's tongue to say. "Your trial has begun."
He was escorted to a brightly lit room, similar to human court rooms except different materials. Everything was made of coral, rock, and gold. He sighed in relief when he saw Niall sitting silently, head down and seemingly unharmed.
Everything spewed to him was like gargled trash, going through one ear and out the other. He had to swear an oath to King Triton, be interrogated, and receive glares. When it came time for his testimony, he knew what he had to do. There was no other way to let Niall be free. He told the court exactly what they wanted to hear.
"I take responsibility for all charges. I forced Niall and his family to take me in. They are truly innocent and they tried to tell countless merfolk about me, but I threatened to kill them. I'm... I'm a monster."

Hehehe, please don't kill me!
