I walk into class to see that it has already started. Everyone looks up at me, already judging my every move and I just walked through the door.
"Can I help you?" The teachers asks
"Yeah I'm the new student."
"Ohhhh Savannah, what I pretty name I may add, you can sit over there next to Riley."
Riley raises her hand, to show where she is. Just as I am about to sit down the teachers asks.
So, Savannah tell a little about yourself.
Of course just as soon as I thought I could just continue my day normally the teacher asks me the dreaded question. Now I will stand out for sure!
I stand up at my desk.
"Well my name is Savannah, and my whole life I have been living all over the country. I was originally born in Africa but my parents shortly moved after I was born. Since then I have lived in Illinois, New York, Maine, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Louisiana, and so many other places."
I sit back down and the whole class is looking at me wide eyed with their jaws to the floor.
"That's amazing!" the teacher add. The whole class responds with nodes and yesses. The teachers soon continues with her lesson, its comes so easily I learned back in freshman year when I lived in New York. I fly through the worksheets and stare at the clock. Only a little longer until I get to see Matt.
I am interrupted in my train of thought from something landing on my desk. Its a crumpled paper ball, I open it and it reads.
Hey do you maybe wanna sit with my friends and I at lunch? -- Riley
I look over at Riley who is doing her work.
I "cough" and she looks up at me. I nodd and she smiles causing me to smile back.
Hopefully I made a friend that I don't have to leave in a few days after meeting and never see again.
