[Flashback/After leaving Derek's]

Scott kicked furiously at the side walk. Every emotion threatening to overtake the next; what happened? Who was that back in Derek's room? It couldn't be human. How could Stiles not see it? He needed to save Stiles; get him away from that monster, but how? He had to find a way that wouldn't get them both hurt or maybe killed.

At lunch the next day Stiles noticed something was wrong with Scott as he picked at his food. A small bruise on his cheek that was poorly covered by his mother's make up. Allison was going on and on about a date she had with Aiden over the weekend. Stiles was too busy worrying about Scott to really pay attention.

"Are you okay?"

Scott jumped and dropped his fork. Stiles raised his eyebrow.

"Uh, fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Sure. Why?"

Stiles gestured to his cheek. Scott reached up and nervously grinned.

"Skate board."

"You should be more careful." a new voice had entered the conversation. They looked up and saw Derek smiling down at them.

"Hey!" Stiles smiled.

"Hey babe." He leaned down and kissed Stiles on the cheek and sat down squeezing between Stiles and Scott. Scott shifted uncomfortably in the presence.

"I'm going to go. I have to do some work in the library." Scott grabbed his tray and stood up.

"Alright. I'll see you in class."

Scott nodded and hurried to exit the cafeteria.

"Is he okay?" Derek asked.

"I'm not sure."

"Should I check on him?" Derek offered.

"You're really sweet, but no. I'm sure he just has a lot on his mind. He isn't much of a talker."

"If you say so. Well I've got to go meet up with the guys. I'll see you tonight?"

"Can't. I have family dinner. My dad doesn't work tonight so we're getting pizza."

"Sounds good. Well just txt me later, love you." He leaned down and kissed Stiles and hurried out of the room and down the hall.

Scott leaned against his locker. He held the picture of him and Stiles. He wished they could go back to that. If he wasn't such a chicken and just told Stiles how he felt maybe none of this would have happened.

"That's a really cute picture." Derek had followed Scott to his locker.

"What do you want?" He turned away from his locker and looked around the hall, aside from a few people near the classroom doors, they were alone.

"Nothing really, just checking up on you."

"I didn't say anything if that's what you're worried about."

Derek grinned. It scared him.  It was a real smile. Scott couldn't see any sign of anger or menace.

"I knew you wouldn't. I'll see you tonight." He lightly brushed the back of Scott's hand that held the picture and gave him one last grin then turned and walked away. What was he talking about? Scott put the picture back in the locker and slammed it. He felt sick to his stomach and nothing he did would make the feeling go away. Scott watched the clock dreading when the bell would ring letting them escape. After all the years of complaining of school this was the one time Scott didn't want to leave. He slipped out into the hall and watched making sure he didn't see Derek. He made it outside and started walking home; relief flooding over him. He still hadn't thought of a way to tell Stiles. Scott was so distracted it took four beeps before he realized he was being followed. He looked to his right and saw Derek's car. The passenger side window slid open revealing an irritated Derek.
