We pulled into the parking lot and I sighed " come on it's going to be a great year Jackson" mom says. " yeah yeah I know new year new opportunities." I say flatly. I grab my bag from the floor and open my door and a rush of chatter flows into the car and I sigh again. "Ahh" I hear a hit pitched shriek come from the school and then everyone bursts out into laughter. I look to see if the seniors had already started they're pranks but was surprised to see a red faced girl. She was collapsed on the floor with her books and papers everywhere. I stared at her face and realized I know her but no one was helping her up." Yeah ok bye mom see ya later" I say without looking at her. " oh uh ok bye Jackson." My mom says as I shut the door of the car. I jog up to the girl who's trying to collect her things. I pick up one of her binders " here you go". She looks up at me with a pink tint to her face. She has big hazel eyes and red hair. " uh...T-thanks..." She says looking nervous. I smile at her and her face gets a little bit more red as she looks away. I help her gather the rest of her things and hand them to her. "I'm Jackson. But people call me Jay.I don't think I've seen you around before... Are you new?" I say to her. Her eyes get even bigger. " y-yeah I-I'm new..." She stumbles, " my names rosemary." I smiled at her "that's a lovely name". "JACKSON!" Yells one of my friends I haven't seen all summer. I turn around to say goodbye to rosemary but she's already started walking away. I shrug and start off to my friends. " hey man" says James. I notice his hair isn't blonde anymore. " what? You going all brunette on me or somethin?" I laugh and he smiles. They start talking about what they did over the summer and I couldn't help but think about Rosemary and why she seems so different.
