It was dark by the time (name) appeared from the temple. Steven was asleep and the rest of the gems were in the temple minding their own business. (name) stepped over the warp pad softly and tiptoed across the house to the door.

She heard Steven stir in his sleep but didn't wake. (name) let out a sigh of relief as she opened the door as quietly as possible before stepping out into the open. She took a deep breath and hopped down the steps onto the cool sand. She walked slowly over the beach until she was ankle deep in the seawater. Gazing out sadly at the vastness of it she took another step. She could sense her, she knew she wasn't far. Soon she would find her and bring her home.

"don't worry Lapis" (name) whispered as she she went completely underwater

"i'll find you"

Lapis was in love. She knew she would be once she set her eyes on the beautiful gem known as (name), the way her eyes lit up when she spoke or the genuine smile she had when she was happy made her cheeks burn. What surprised her however was that her feelings were returned.

The two spent as much time as they could together. Dancing, laughing or just laid in eachother's arms, wasting the day away. Since Lapis could fly and (name) could not the blue gem would take her beloved high into the sky. She couldn't help but smile at the delighted squeals and laughs that emitted from the gem every time they did so.

They spent their time together to the fullest, especially when (name) began to work more closely with her leader, Rose Quartz. Lapis wished she could have been transferred over to Pink Diamond but she was strong. Blue diamond needed her more. She was content with this for a while until (name) came to her with news that would change their fate together forever.

"good evening Lapis" (name) said quietly, giving the blue gem a kiss on the lips before sitting over the balcony and staring out at the city below them. Lapis smiled back but knew something was a little off. Usually (name) was so happy and optimistic! if she wasn't then there was something seriously wrong.

Lapis sat beside her, leaning into her. They sat in a pleasant silence before the blue gem spoke up

"you can tell me what's wrong (name)" the gem smiled at Lapis's bluntness before looking out to the sky.

"it was in that building there, we first met wasn't it?" Lapis gazed out at the tall tower and nodded.

"yeah...we had to go fight that gem...Citrine was it?" (name) nodded, smiling a little at the memory. Citrine was an outlaw, after breaking into the weaponry she stole some of the most valuable swords homeoworld had created. (name) and Lapis were sent together to attack the yellow gem and retrieve the weapons.

They got on instantly, Lapis was a little shy at first but (name)'s bubbly attitude soon made her open up. When they fought Citrine themselves they beat her without hardly trying, their strength together was worthy of noticing by the diamonds. The two were often paired together until (name) was moved to serve Rose instead. Lapis giggled

"it sure was exciting...now will you tell me whats wrong? you're hardly ever like this" In an instant (name)'s smile vanished and was replaced with a frown.

"its...hard to say...if I did tell you...you couldn't tell a soul, not even blue diamond" Lapis sat up,confused

"whats so serious that we have to keep it from our leaders..?" Lapis asked and (name) said nothing

"(name)...?" Lapis said, beginning to get a little worried. (name) looked to her, her lip trembling.

"Rose Quartz she...she's going to rebel against the Three Diamonds." Lapis couldn't stop the gasp emitting her throat. Standing up she cried

"what?! (name) are you serious?!" (name) pulled her down again. She eyed a couple of gems staring up at them from the street before they went back to whatever they were doing. (name) looked at Lapis, whispering.

"shh! yes...She doesn't want us making kindergartens on that planet Earth..." (name) said, looking away. Lapis placed her hands on (name)'s face, looking hopefully at her

"but not you right? we can report this (name)!" The gem stayed silent, looking down at her lap. Lapis frowned

"(name) you...don't tell me you're going with her!?" the gem hid her face in her hands "

I'm sorry Lapis I...I want to protect that planet too! I don't want to keep destroying innocent lives like the planet's we've done to before" (name) wailed, tears welling up in her eyes. Lapis stared up at her in shock

"but that means you'll have to leave..." she said, covering her own mouth as tears began to fall from her eyes. The blue gem wrapped her arms round her lover, hugging her tightly.

"please tell me you're lying (name). This isn't true" (name) didn't reply, instead she leant into the blue gems touch, eventually speaking.

"Promise me that you won't tell anyone Lapis, i'm begging you" Lapis looked down at her lover before nodding slowly.

"don't worry (name)..I promise" she whispered, staring up at the starry sky.

"when do you leave?" she asked hoarsely, rubbing her eyes. "tomorrow" Lapis froze, looking down at her before hugging her tightly.

"stay here tonight then...?" (name) nodded, giving the blue gem a kiss on the cheek"

"of course..."

Lapis sat on a tree branch humming to herself and running her hands through her blue hair. She'd warped here a couple of minutes ago and now she was waiting for (name) to arrive. Ever since she'd left for Earth with her leader Rose the two had promised to meet with each other once a week.

They both warped out to a planet known as Aulia. It was small, insignificant and only had basic life forms in the water. It wasn't important to homeworld therefore one of the safest places they could meet. The sound of the warp pad brought Lapis back to attention and smiled at the sight of her beloved jumping off the pad with a smile on her face

"sorry i'm late! Me and Pearl had to go on a mission and I only just got back" (name) exclaimed, pecking Lapis on the lips and hopping up on the branch next to her. Lapis nodded

"its okay, I was only here for a few minutes anyway" the gem said, beginning to run her hands instead through (name)'s hair. The gem giggled, resting her head on Lapis's shoulder.

"I wish we could stay here forever" Lapis hummed in agreement, making tiny plaits in (name)'s hair.

"though our leaders would try to find us, you're strong Lapis" The blue gem giggled, tugging on her hair a little to make her jump.

"Wanna go explore?" (name) nodded enthusiastically, the two of them jumping off the branch and walking deep into the forest

"won't we get lost?" (name) asked. Lapis shook her head

"don't worry, I'll fly up if we can't find our way back. The two spent the rest of the day climbing trees and jumping over lakes and streams, not without (name) falling in much to Lapis's amusement. When the planet's sun began to set the two were back at the warp pad. A subdued silence was upon them. This was normal when the two had to leave

"...same time next week?" (name) asked hopefully. Lapis nodded, smiling and kissing her forehead.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world.

When Lapis returned to homeworld however, she was met with some grave news.

"what do you mean the warp pads are being shut down for all galaxies apart from our own?!" Lapis exclaimed, staring at the gem, Spinel who had told her. The gem shrugged, going back to writing at her desk.

"don't ask me why, probably cause of Rose y'know, if you've got a problem with it go speak to the diamonds. Like they'd listen to you though" Spinel added. Lapis knew she couldn't persuade her leaders, not even if she begged on her knees. There was no way about it. She couldn't leave this place, she couldn't see (name). Going back to her home she locked herself in. She wept for what seemed like hours on end but nothing could cheer her up now.

Sure enough the days rolled past and soon enough (name) was back on the Aulia. Excited that she was first to arrive she placed herself where Lapis would usually sit and waited.

And waited

And waited.

Hours had passed, where was she? was she on a mission? that's probably it. Maybe she would come come back tomorrow? Yeah! (name) waited a few more hours before leaving, a little upset.

For the next week (name) visited everyday, hoping and waiting that her loved one would visit. But alas, she did not. The weeks stretched to months and soon to years before after the 31st year of waiting, (name) gave up and never returned.

(name) swam for what felt like hours, her limbs were starting to feel tired. She could barely see a thing down here, it didn't help that it was night either...Her gem flickered, lighting up for a few seconds before going dull again.

"she's close" she breathed out, forcing her strokes harder through the dark water. Suddenly a roar ripped through the ocean, the floor shaking for a second or two. (name) stopped swimming, looking round fanatically for any signs of the green fusion.

"she must be further ahead..." she said nervously, swimming forward once more. The shrieks and cries of the monster kept getting louder and more frustrated until (name) could see a fight green glow up ahead. Swimming as fast as she could over to it she reached her hand out, placing it gently on the light. She frowned, why was it hard? with a sudden realization she pushed herself back as fast as she could. A loud yet horrific laughter emitted from the light and it rose up to stand on its four legs. (name) stared up in shock.

She'd found it, she'd found her

"Malachite"

The gems had waited for this a while, they knew it wouldn't be long before Homeworld came to Earth to defeat them. Both humans and gems stood side by side, waiting for they're opposes to land on the planet. (name) stood beside Pearl, gripping her weapon as tightly as she could. Her hands were shaking a little but her friend placed a hand reassuringly on her shoulder.

"its okay (name)" Pearl said, smiling. (name) knew she was just as nervous as herself.

"we have Rose, we will win this!" (name) giggled at her confidence and stared straight ahead. In the distance she could faintly see the ships coming closer and closer. Looking to her other friends, Garnet and Rose she whispered a 'good luck' before the ships landed.

The hatches opened and gems came leading out. The three diamonds stood proudly at the front. (name) swallowed nervously, she was scared, more than scared but she couldn't show it. She had to stay strong. Watching as Yellow diamond raised her hand, the homeworld gems began to charge. Rose copied her movements, ordering her army forward. Raising they're weapons high they ran along the field until the two armies collided. She was first met with a Beryl, barely dodging the swipe of her sword (name) thrusted forward with her own, sending the gem flying back. Jumping beside garnet the fought off multiple gems back to back

"have you seen Pearl?!" Garnet yelled, punching a emerald in the face.

"she's stuck by Rose!" (name) shouted, striking another gem with her weapon. Gazing up at the rocky terrain around them she spotted a team mate, a Topaz being pursued by a blue gem. Strange, she looked somewhat familiar...(name) shook it off, turning to Garnet.

"I'm going to help Topaz!" Garnet nodded in confirmation, sending another gem back into its original state. (name) jumped over the rubble and rocks, catching up with the two who were climbing to the top of the cliff. The blue gem had Topaz cornered on the edge, one more step back and she would fall to her most probable death. (name) climbed up, summoning her weapon and pointing it at the blue gem.

"stand back!" she yelled. The blue gem froze in her place. Slowly turning round her eyes met (name)'s and gasped. (name) dropped her weapon.

"Lapis?!" (name) yelled, Topaz took this opportunity to run past the two, back into battle. Lapis stepped forward, placing a hand on (name)'s cheek

"I was so worried" Lapis said softly but (name) jerked back.

"where...where have you been all this time?! I waited for you! everyday for 31 years!" Lapis flinched at her shouting but spoke over her

"(name) i'm sorry, homeworld blocked all warp pads outside our galaxy..I couldn't do anything." (name) stopped yelling to stare at her

"I was always thinking, about you (name), I missed you so much" Lapis said, resting her head on (name)'s shoulder. (name) leaned into her touch, running her hands through her hair.

"its...alright Lapis, you're here now" (name) whispered. Everything around her seemed to be blur, she didn't notice the battle below her commencing, all she could see was the gem ifnrotn of her. Suddenly shaking out of her trance she watched the battle below her.

"Lapis I...I need to help, I need to fight" The blue gem didn't even look surprised, instead she nodded as well.

"I know (name) so do I...if you lose, I'll do my best to bring you home. I won't let the diamonds hurt you" she said protectively. (name) nodded

"I'll do the same Lapis I..." Lapis cut her off, kissing her on the lips

"I know, I love you too" Lapis whispered, her wings sprouting from her gem and floating in the air.

"don't die" she called, swooping down into the fight. (name) smiled softly before jumping down, striking a green gem with her weapon once more

Lapis had her eye on Rose, from the start she did. If it wasn't for that dammed gem her and (name) would have been together. She knew what she had to do. Defeat Rose, persuade the diamonds of (name)'s innocence and then, finally they would be with each other. She didn't care about anyone else, she just wanted to be with (name). Jumping down in front of Rose she formed her water wings into two clones of herself. Rose gripped her sword tightly.

"Lapis" she said, holding her ground. Lapis raised her hand, sending the two clones at her. Rose dodged their attacks easily, swiping one in half with her sword and blocking the other with her shield.

"I don't intend to loose" Lapis hissed out, the water forming again into clones and attacking but once more, Rose defeated them like they were nothing. How was this gem so strong?! Lapis gritted her teeth, almost shaking with anger

"This is all your fault!" she shrieked, running at the gem herself, swiping and lashing out at her as strong as she could. Rose kept calm, ducking and dodging her every move and attack. Lapis jumped forwards again but lost her footing, going to fall forward Rose striked with her sword, going completely through the blue gem. Lapis gasped in pain and shock, falling back as Rose yanked the sword away from her chest.

She knew her gem had cracked, she could feel it splitting. She nearly screamed in pain as Rose walked to her.

"I'm sorry Lapis, (name) is dear to you but...you're too dangerous" The blue gem was disorientated, looking blindly left and right the last thing she saw was Rose raising a mirror to her face

"(name)..."

They had won, they had defeated homeworld! (name) couldn't help but laugh in relief. Her skin was battered and bruised but she was fine. Running through the battlefield she tried her best to ignore the many shattered and crushed gems scattered over the dirt. Seeing her three friends up ahead she yelled, waving her arms.

"guys!" The three turned to stare at her

"(name) you're alive!" Pearl said, running towards her and grabbing her into a bone crushing hug. (name) laughed, hugging her back along with Garnet who was soon pulled into the mix. Rose smiled at the sight but was quickly replaced with a frown when (name) spoke

"Did anyone see Lapis...? I saw her! She should be waiting for me. She promised she would if we won" Rose looked to the two nervously before speaking.

"(name)...Lapis is gone" (name) stopped talking to stare at Rose

"what? that's ridiculous! she should be around here somewhere!" Garnet placed a hand on (name)'s shoulder

"Lapis isn't here (name), she isn't coming back" (name) looked between the three of them.

"but..she promised me! she wouldn't die! she couldn't! she...she..." her words became shaky as realization came upon her. Hiding her face in her hands she let out a wail, leaning on Garnet who rubbed her back reassuringly. Rose and Pearl stood beside them, gazing sadly at their distraught friend.

"She was too dangerous...right?" Pearl whispered as she was handed the mirror.

"yes" Rose said

"i'm afraid so, I won't tell her, neither should you or Garnet alright?"

(name) gazed up at the fusion in shock. Now Malachite was scary on land at the least but down here? she was terrifying. The monster growled, tugging at the liquid chains ruthelessly. Its four eyes instantly locked onto (name) and it tilted its head in confusion.

"(name)...? w..what are you doing here?!" It yelled, obviously meaning that Lapis was speaking. (name) swallowed nervously, speaking up

"I-I'm here for you Lapis! I'm here to take you home-" She was cut off by Malachite's hand shoving her roughly to the side

"get out of here (name)! I'm not leaving so get out of here!" The fusion yelled, raising its hand up threateningly. (name) shook her head furiously

"I'm not leaving without you Lapis" The fusion roared, sending a blast of water towards the gem. (name) was forced back, smacking her back against a rock.

"we're not stable (name), I don't want to hurt you!" Lapis's voice was barely noticeable now, beginning to mix with Malachite's insane vocals. (name)'s hands shook as she summoned her weapon, pointing it at the fusion.

"I don't want to hurt you either, but if you stay like this any longer you'll lose yourselves!" Malachite seemed to be in a mental battle with itself, gripping its hair and talking to itself. (name) swam back. She knew once Lapis had made her mind up she couldn't change it. They'd been fused for too long. Aiming with her weapon she lifted her arm, throwing it right between the fusion's eyes
