Chapter 2: The Realization

Keeping myself entertained was my only problem; every morning I took the pack for a walk to the village; every evening I sat by the fire place with Dark Soul on my lap. On the in-between hours I built up what used to be a shack in to a gargantuan tree house; complete with a ramp for the pack.

This day I stood at the top of the guard tower; bow in hand. I swear I almost shot Leaf Paw as he crossed the lawn in front of the house; he bounded out of the woods, heading straight toward the house. I barely stopped myself before he came waddling through the small doggie door I had recently added to the front gate. He came up the stairs behind me and gave me a giant lick as he tackled me. I fell to the floor almost crashing straight through into the kitchen. As I got up the floorboards groaned beneath me.

That's when I saw it, a sleek black figure clutching some dirt in it's hands. It looked around nervously, then it saw me, locked eyes with me and in an instant I had that same nauseating feeling as before. I was a step away from the creature when I saw that it was not holding dirt but a life-less dog with a small hand-engraved collar around it's neck Dark Soul.I screamed and pounded on the things chest, it didn't even flinch. My brain went in to overdrive, What could do something like that to Dark Soul I thought, I ran back to the section of the shack that I had kept around for an armory, grabbed my diamond sword, ran my finger across the newly sharpened blade; and charged. The thing dropped Dark Soul and teleported toward me, no, past me, took it's razor-blade claws and viciously slashed at my back. I fell unconscious until I was awakened by a snout with brown fur rubbing against my face, I looked up, Dark Soul!
