A | chapter three

I followed behind Edward as he walked around the GCPD building. "Hey." He stopped and turned back to face me.

"Yes Adrianna?" Walking over to be right beside him, we started walking again.

"Why are they all assholes to you?" I questioned, as we headed towards an unknown location to me.

He let out a laugh. "I wouldn't use that word but I'd like to think it's because of their lack of intelligence."

His words came a bit narcissistic to me but I brushed it off and nodded as we entered the autopsy room. "Are you sure we're allowed in here?"

"Of course." He handed me the files he had in his hands and searched for something around the room. I took a seat and waited for him to finish his search.

"Eddy?"

"Hm?"

"Are you seeing anyone?" I questioned, purely out of curiosity and a bit because I did find him attractive.

Although, some people at the job couldn't find him, I'm sure there was someone for him.

"No." He bluntly answered, no emotion behind the answer. "Are you trying to hint at something or was that just a question to fill the air, Adrianna?"

I shook my head but spoke up when I realized his back was facing me. "No. Just curiosity." I lied. After a couple days of knowing him, I was almost positive that he had feelings for Kristen; something I didn't want to interfere with at the moment.

"Curiosity can be a dangerous thing sometimes." He remarked as he looked over something. "Depending on the person you're dealing with."

"I wouldn't exactly consider you a dangerous man, Eddy."

He slammed a drawer closed and turned around, with a big grin on his face. "I finally have everything I need. Thank you for the company, Adrianna."

I nodded and handed him his files back as we walked back out into the main lobby of GCPD.

"You are truly an interesting character." He told me, half way there. I smiled at his compliment, although it did catch me off guard.

"Same goes for you." Once we were in the main part, our conversation was cut short by Jim.

"I need to talk to you." He told me, completely disregarding Edward. I sighed and nodded, following after him.
