Once upon a time, there was girl named Stacy who thought she was extremely ugly. Every morning, she would look in the mirror and scrunch up her nose.

Ugh. Look at your hair, it's an absolute jungle. It  looks like a squirrel decided to nest in it while you were sleeping. And look at those freckles! How many could a girl have? It's looks like Georges Seurat had a field day on your face. She would think to herself, trying to yank a brush through her tangles.

The same thing happened that morning. Stacy's brain continued to think of more insults as she would continue the same process.

1. Yank the knots out of  hair

2. Brush teeth and frown at braces

3. Try to hide freckles with cover up

4. And stand back, still unsatisfied.

And like every other day, she went through the same teasing at school, went home to the same, crumbling brown house, and ate dinner with her highly disfunctional family.

Even though they were all seperate problems, Stacy thought everything would be fixed if she was pretty like everyone else.

That night, as she snuggled into her covers, she focused upon a star in the sky. It was the first she had seen that night, and it shined brightly.

"Oh how I wish I was beautiful." She sighed, a tear rolling down her cheek

Suddenly, a fairy had appeared. Not one like the Fairy Godmother, but more like Tinker Bell. Petite and short in stature, she flew onto Stacy's pillow.

"What's wrong, dear?" She asked curiously, sitting crosslegged.

"Who the heck are you?" Stacy whisper-yelled, jumping back.

"Your fairy godmother."She smiled, waving her wand in her wand that couldn't have been bigger that a toothpick.

"Sure." She said, clearly suspicious." If you are my fairy godmother, then make me pretty."

The fairy sighed. "Okay, dear. You'll be absolutely stunning in the morning." And with that, the fairy waved her wand towards Stacy, then poofed away.

Stacy woke up especially early that morning. With the idea that she would finally be beautiful, she couldn't wait to look into the mirror. Running from her bedroom, Stacy bursted into the bathroom to face the mirror, a smile on her face.

But quickly, her smile changed into a frown, and she began crying.

"Is this some sick joke?" She asked. Stacy hadn't changed one bit. Her face was the same, with the same number of freckles scattered on her cheeks, the same bedhead, and worst of all, the same metal braces lining her teeth.

Stacy pouted as she rummaged around the sink for a brush, but instead she found a small note written in thick, black ink.

Don't you see, dear? You already are beautiful. On the outside and inside.

-Your Fairy Godmother

Stacy set the note onto the countertop of the sink, and slowly rose her head to face the mirror. Instead of seeing her flaws, she began to realize that she wasn't ugly at all. Her hair wasn't as messy, her braces weren't that bad, and her freckles suited her red locks.

"Thank you, Fairy Godmother." Stacy whispered quietly, wiping away a tear.

That day, Stacy realized no one is ever ugly. It's just on how you perceive yourself.
