You sit boredly at the desk, watching the surveilance tapes in absolute silence. Beside you sits the "super sleuth" known only to you as Ryuzaki; more commonly known as "L." You've been sitting there for nearly an hour, and nothing has happened at all. Upon glancing at the clock, you sigh, seeing that your shift is almost over. Unfortunately for you, this means that you won't be seeing your beloved Ryuzaki (whom you secretly love) again until the next day.
"y/n?" Ryuzaki glances over, almost boredly, from where he sits about a foot away. You whip your head around snapping out of a fantasy you had been playing in your head. "Stop daydreaming and get back to work," he says.
"Oh!" you exclaim. "I'm sorry, Ryuzaki!" You sigh, returning your attention to the tapes again. As usual, the people you are watching are still asleep. "Nothing at all is happening. I really do not think that either of these people are Kira."
"Keep an eye out, still," he mutters, "because you could miss an important clue."
"They've gone to bed, Ryuzaki," you groan in slight irritation. After all, how in the world could someone who is asleep kill someone? You might not be quite as good at this as Ryuzaki, but it appears to be rather obvious to you.
"Very well," L nods. "Go over the investigation files covering the Kira Case starting from the first murder up until today. Tell me if you find anything we may have accidentally skipped over." You glare at him for a moment, incredibly annoyed. Sure this guy was sexy and could be funny when he wanted, but right now, when you were tired and sick of looking at the same things over and over, you really could hardly tolerate his meticulous way of doing things. So repetitive and boring.
However much you hate doing this, you pull up the files and read EVERYTHING over again. As you expected before, nothing new has jumped out at you, so you grumble and bring your knees up to your chest. Though you're annoyed, you really had hoped you'd find something that would cause L to praise you and be impressed. So you're slightly disappointed with the fact that you have found nothing whatsoever. "This is hopeless."
"What is it?" Ryuzaki glances over once more, raising a questioning eyebrow. (Wait. L has eyebrows? Woah, when did that happen?)
"Absolutely nothing!" you shout. "I've gone through these files time and time again, yet no matter what I do I can't find a single thing that could be helpful. Well, nothing we haven't already found, that is... I'm a pathetic excuse of a detective, Ryuzaki."
L, seemingly concerned (though with him you could nver really tell), comes to your side. "You have incredibly sensitive deductive skills, y/n," he says to you. "If you can't find anything else in those files that you haven't seen before, that means you've already looked at everything so thoroughly that you couldn't possibly find anything else without fabricating it with your mind. Don't worry. We'll catch this criminal. Justice always prevails in the end." L nods at you and you nod back before he goes and sits down at his monitor again.
Some time later, Watari comes in with some cookies and coffee for the two of you. You take two and thank the man, while L is busy taking the rest. You can't help but giggle at the way he picks up one of the cookies with his thumb and forefinger before he shoves the entire thing in his mouth, eyes crossed.
"Mm? What is it?" Ryuzaki asks, his voice muffled by the countless amount of cookie crumbs in his mouth.
"Nothing! Nothing!" you chortle, forcing a hand over your mouth to silence yourself.
"You know, y/n, I'm not called the greatest detective in the world for nothing... Tell me, why were you laughing at me?"
Raising your hands in defeat, you shake your head and say, "Alright, alright. You caught me. I was laughing because of the way you eat your cookies. You hold them in a strange way."
