(Mike's P.O.V.)
I rubbed the red mark, where Jeremy had slapped before. I didn't know what to say. No, you don't think you did Mike... I pulled out the other note in my pocket and opened it. "Sh*t!" I said to myself. I gave him the wrong note. I had given Jeremy the note that his mom made before she died. No, before he killed her. I couldn't help myself but run out the house and look for Jeremy.
"Jeremy! I can explain! Please just let me explain to you~" I looked down at the ground. It was useless. He would never come out. He was going to hide forever, until he died. I hopped into my car and drove around the neighborhood. A few minutes later, I could see Jeremy, sitting at the door of the pizzeria. I drove into the parking lot, got out of my car, and slammed the door. "Kid! What were you thinking?" I asked walking over to him.
He didn't answer at first. "Kid?" I asked again. Then he looked up at me, still holding the note in one hand. As soon as I saw his eyes, I knew he had been crying. "Mike.." he spoke.
"I..I know y..you didn't m..mean it. I'm s..sorry I hit y..you.." He said as he squeezed the note. I could see it starting to bend and crumble.
"Jeremy, please. Let me explain to you. I found that note in some files at your house. Your father wasn't home, and he was dumb as f*ck to keep the door unlocked. I read it, and wanted to keep it to give it to you at a better time." I felt embarrassed already. I could hear my words becoming gibberish. "I'm really sorry." I finished and looked at the sign on the pizzeria.
"I..I know M..Mike. I k..know you d..didn't mean it.." I was hoping for a hug, but it turned out to be nothing. We drove home, and Jeremy was silent the entire way. I decided to break the silence.
"So, uh, tonight at work," I started tugging my hat again. "I'll be in tonight.."
"Since when were you never at work Mike." Jeremy laughed a little.
"Well, I was going to~" I couldn't tell him. He would get upset.
"What?" He asked sitting up.
"I was going to quit Jere, but not anymore! You know, because~" He turned his head to look out the window.
"Save it Mike." His voice cracked throughout the sentence. The silence had returned.
When we got home, I threw on my uniform and so did Jeremy. Jeremy walked over to me, "Mike, are you really a bad person?" I didn't answer the question, and sat down on the couch. I didn't realize it, but then I fell asleep.
~5 Hours Later...~
I awoke on the couch, the T.V. still on. I looked down at my watch to see that it was 12:30 AM. "Sh*t!" I screamed, running into Jeremy's room to get him. When I opened the door, there was nothing, but I note on his bed.
"Went to work. Hopefully you will be up at this point. ~Jeremy."
"What's new? Of course he wouldn't wake me up." I angrily hopped into my car and drove to the pizzeria. When I got there, the doors for the pizzeria were locked. I tugged harder, but it wouldn't budge. "Jeremy! I know you're still mad, unlock the doors!" No answer. "Jeremy?"
I walked to the back exit and opened the doors. Once I got inside, Jeremy wasn't in sight. Then, I checked the front of the pizzeria. "Jeremy??" Nothing. Then a huge scream was let out from the office. "Jeremy!" I ran to the office, and Jeremy lied on the floor, bleeding from head to toe.
"Jeremy! Oh my god!" I ran inside and immediately grabbed the first aid. "Stay with me!" I could see him slowly blacking out. "Stay with me..."
