After getting home, and changing into a nice outfit for going out, my mom stood in my doorway and smiled.
"Alice, I know I don't have all the time in the world with you. But always know that I love you." My mom said, pulling me into a hug.
I hugged her back. "I love you too mom."
We both laughed. This is why I loved my mom, she was not just my mom. But a best friend, my life support. I couldn't live without her by my side, healing all the wounds I had.
"Mom, so I'm going to be out with Jessica and Luke for awhile. Okay?" I said.
My mom nodded her head. "Be safe darling."
I nodded back. "Always have."
With that, I was walking out the door on my way to Jessica's house a few doors down. When I got to her house, I walked up the steps and knocked on her door. A few seconds later, Luke opened the door and pulled me into his arm. I couldn't help but laugh. He carried me into the house, and put me down on the couch.
"Hey baby girl, it's been awhile." Luke said, while closing the front door.
I smirked. Luke was, well, he was my sorta boyfriend... We've been friends since the beginning of High School, but apparently he's always wanted to be more than friends... I didn't reject him, I just put up boundaries.
"Hi yourself." I said, smoothing down my skirt.
A minute later, Jessica came running down the stairs. "ALICE!"
I stood up and hugged Jessica. "Hey hey!"
Luke rolled his eyes. "I'll be warming up the car, be out in a few ladies."
Jessica and I giggled.
"So, what do you think?" I asked.
"About?" Jessica asked, looking confused.
"My wig silly." I said.
"Wig? Alice... Is there something you're not telling me...?" Jessica asked, with a concerned look on her face.
I gulped. "Well, there's something I have to tell you and Luke..."
"Come on, we will talk about this in the car." Jessica said, motioning me to follow her to the car.
Once in the car, I told Luke and Jessica. Luke kept a straight face while driving, but I could tell he was upset. Jessica wiped her eyes, and sniffled.
"I can't believe this, we won't graduate together." Jessica said, looking upset.
I stifled a laugh. "You were always the dramatic one Jess."
"What's so funny Alice?" Jessica asked, "My best friend is dying. And you are laughing? Luke, back me up here."
Luke and I laughed. "Sorry girly."
Jessica pouted and crossed her arms. "Fine, but when you're on your death bed, I'll make you look like sleepy beauty."
"Thanks Jess." I said, smiling.
"Where are you taking us Luke?" Jessica asked.
"Alice, what do you want to do?" Luke asked me, looking back.
"Let's go to a club. But first, Jess and I need to find some appropriate clothing for a club. Fanciest club around here?" I said.
"Gotcha ladies, first we will hit the mall." Luke said, exiting off the highway.
Once at the mall, Jessica and I headed straight towards Macy's. After an hour of looking for dresses, we came back to Luke with many bags of clothing.
"So, you two must have gotten a lot?" Luke asked, pulling out of the parking lot.
Jessica and I laughed. "Hell yeah."
Once we got to the club, Jessica and I went to the ladies room to change. It smelled like smoke and perfume. I walked into the biggest stall, and locked the door. I struggled out of my skirt and tank top, and into my new cocktail dress and stiletto heels. Once I got changed, I headed out of the bathroom and brought my clothes to the car. Jessica came out a few minutes later, almost tripping over a few people.
"Okay Alice, I'm already 5'7 and these three inch heels make me 5'10!" Jessica complained, stuffing her bag into the back seat.
I sighed. "At least you're not dying."
After locking up the car, Jessica and I met up with Luke. A few guys whistled as Jessica and I walked over to Luke, and another guy tried to grab Jessica's ass. She slapped his hand away, and continued over to Luke.
"Hello there ladies." Luke said, offering his arms.
Jessica and I linked arms with Luke, and we walked over to the bar. We all sat down, and ordered something to drink. A guy a few seats down was checking me out, but I just ignored him.
"Jess, follow me." I said, tugging at her arm.
"Luke, be back in a bit." Jessica said, standing up.
Luke nodded his head, and we headed over to the guy who was checking me out. I tapped him on the shoulder, and slapped him in the face.
I glowered my eyes at him, and honestly I was very pissed off. "I don't want you or any guy hitting on me, k?"
The guy rubbed his cheek where I slapped him, and he gave me a wounded look. "Baby girl, cmon'. Why slap a guy you don't even know?"
I thought for a minuet, then spoke. "I'm dying with Cancer buddy, and my name isn't baby girl. It's Alice. And I honestly don't appreciate you staring at me, I'm not a piece of art."
"I'm very impressed baby girl, very very impressed. Guilt tripping me too? That's very different baby girl, so cmon' why'd you slap a guy like me?" He asked.
Jessica whispered in my ear, and headed back towards the bar where Luke was. I sat down next to the guy, and ordered a drink.
