New beginings

Who knew that five minutes could turn into an hour in a blink of an eye. I was on a plane heading into my new unknown home. I was leaving everything behind me, everything that used to be me. There was five minutes till landing when the pilot got an emergency call, saying we were not to leave until directed. The radio went dead and that was all never to be contacted again. An hour went by, the plan running low on fuel, we had to land there was no other choice, oh how I wish there was. As the plane got closer to the landing we could see the confused, dazed people walking the tracks. At least they looked like people from a distance. When we got close they came after us running with crazed looks in their eyes. These people were no longer the people they used to be. They killed their own kind, some I became very close to. The inside of the airport was no better, those people were eating the flesh of others. We knew we could no longer call them people, that in our world we were no longer dominate, and that these "lurkers" were. We knew our lives would never be the same again. Not many of us survived that airport; only five people made it out, but it wasn't Long until they were gone too. I travelled alone for days just hoping this would all end, that maybe I would die, but I came across another group. I'm still with them, well most of them. Some died saving others and some just didn't want to keep fighting to live. We're all close just like a family, we're all each other have in this god forsaken place called life. Maggie and Glenn are expecting their first child. We are all hoping for a boy. And Judith well she's amazing. A good fighter and a smart, bright and innocent child. She keeps us alive by showing us all the good things that still exist. I always knew I would find a place where I belonged maybe not in New York, but southern Georgia will have to do for now.
