Back to School

I did not want to get up. I'd had a nice long summer vacation and I was not ready to go back to school. Sure I wanted to see my friends after about two months of seeing hardly a single one (unless you count my three brothers) but that also means getting up at 6:00 every morning. The only other reason i was excited to go back was 'cause this is middle school!!!!! And there is no way I'm missing this! Just thinking about it got me excited, lockers, no lines in the hall, time in between classes to hang out! It seemed so cool!!! So i jumped out of bed and got dressed as fast as I could, popped in my contacts and ran for the kitchen.

When I was ready I went into the kitchen to get breakfast. "What's the rush Lizzy?" my older brother Stuart asked, "I just can't wait to see my friends" I replied. "No your just a nerd that wants to go learn stuff" he joked. He knew I hated school and it was a prison for me. Without fresh air, being cooped up in that building with no way to go outside. Little did I know how much worse that was gonna become during the next three years. But I just playfully rolled my eyes at him and got some cereal. It was probably another 10 minutes before my two little brothers stumbled in. Robert was going into 3rd grade and Turner was just starting kinder-garden so they had no idea how bad school would get for them, especially Turner. All he had ever known was preschool, and not even as much as me and the other boys 'cause my mom said she was gonna keep him home for the last year of preschool but she didn't teach him anything! So he was the least prepared of us all. So even I (as unsympathetic as I am) felt bad for him, even though he really didn't miss all that much. We left the house at about 7:40. We got Robert there with literally seconds to spare but since it was the first day they would make exceptions. When I got to school I had about three minutes 'till the bell rang so I ran.

When I finally got to my locker the first person I saw was 'Chelly. Her locker was right across the hall from mine which meant that she wasn't in my homeroom (whatever that is) I was disappointed but since she was just across the hall I would see her all the time. We compared schedules and saw that we both had Math 1st, Band 2nd, Social Studies 4th, and P.E. 7th (I had Science while she had English and vise versa). So we got our stuff and walked to Mr. Vanderhoop's room. Yup that's the name of our math teacher, Mr.Vanderhoop, like what kinda name is that? Me and 'Chelly sat next to each other and talked 'till the bell rang. I looked around the room at my classmates to see who all was in my class. I didn't know about half of 'em so I would have the opportunity to make new friends. The teacher came in and introduced himself and can I just say he was CREEPY!!! Like extreme creeper right here. Other than the totally creepy teacher math wasn't that bad, we played games to get to know each other and we got to talk for most of the period.

When math ended we walked out into the hall and were about to go downstairs when I stopped dead in my tracks at the same time as my heart. There, walking down the hall, was the boy I had not been able to stop thinking about for the past 4 years, Lewis. He was tall and blond and had eyes that were bluer than the ocean. I couldn't move. 'Chelly tried to make me come but I was paralyzed I wanted to go talk to him, I wanted him to be one of my best friends just like in second grade, then eventually my boyfriend. But then the most popular girl in school (Jennifer) walked up to him and started flirting her little butt off so I gave in and walked with 'Chelly to band. That got my mind off of Lewis and Jennifer. I was so excited for band, I was gonna get to learn how to play the oboe! Ya ya I know what your thinking 'What the heck is an oboe' well, LOOK IT UP!!! I don't feel like explaining it and if your reading this you clearly have Internet so there you go. I had wanted to play saxophone or trumpet but at tryouts I only got an 8 (out of 10) on the sax, and I didn't feel like I did a very good job on the trumpet so I went with oboe.
