Prolouge

~In The Enchanted Forest, Years before the dark curse~
"Mother...please you're overreacting..no one has to know who she is" Regina begged looking down at her new born baby girl. "Please don't do this!"

"And let you raise the daughter of some stable boy, absolutely not!" Cora answered sharply. "You are about to be a Queen Regina...do you really want your subjects to know you had a child not by the man who you're soon to be wed,it's bad enough we had to push back the wedding"

"She's my daughter! I won't let you take her away from me" Regina stated clutching her daughter close to her.

"Oh come now Regina, I'm your mother" Cora remarked before waving her hands to make the child appear her arms. "And after all mother knows best"

"No mother wait!" Regina called out stopping her mother in the doorway as She pulled out a rolled up a piece of paper along with a bracelet with Raina engraved on it . "So she can have something from her real mother."

"Fine...I expect you to be ready to go to your new home by the time I get back" Cora stated taking the paper and bracelet from Regina. "And don't worry Regina you'll thank me later"

"I doubt i will" Regina muttered to herself watching Cora walk out with the baby in her arms as tears began to roll down her face. "Goodbye Raina"

"Oh come now stop that crying" Cora remarked as baby Raina cried in her arms as she waited out side a inn. "And to think Regina wanted to keep you-Oh where is that inn keeper"

"Right here ma'am, Sorry to keep you waiting" A young woman stated rushing outside to meet cora"is this the child"

"Yes this is the child i told you about" Cora replied handing Raina along with a bag of money to the woman. "And the money as promised"

"Thank you ma'am" The woman happily exclaimed the money in her pocket. "What is the child's name"

"Her name is Raina" Cora said handing the bracelet and paper to the woman."Her mother wanted the child to have something of her."

"And what of her mother,will she-"

"No! Her mother has better things to do than worry about this girl" Cora coldly remarked. "Now i must be going, I trust you'll raise her fairly... Only telling her what I told you to tell her"

The woman only nodded before Cora turned and started walking away.

"Poor thing, What mother would ever want to give a sweet thing like you up" The woman said looking down at the now sleeping baby.

"Perhaps it wasn't the mother's idea" A shrill voice remarked causing the woman to turn around."Hello Martha"

"The dark one!" Martha exclaimed backing away from Rumpelstiltskin."Stay away...I won't let you this child like you've hurt my family"

"Your husband got what he deserved-and why would you even protect a child that's not even yours...its easy to see you only took her because of the money" The Dark One remarked causing Martha to only to look away in embarrassment and shock.

"Why are you even here"

"Oh I'm only here to see who this little bundle is...she really does look her mother" Rumpelstiltskin answered looking down at the baby Raina.

"Who is her mother?" Martha questioned curiously

"Aren't you quite the nosey one...you know curiosity killed the cat" Rumplestilskin remarked causing Martha to jump back in fear "I'm afraid I can't tell you who her mother is,but you'll find out soon enough like everyone in this entire realm will know"

"Why can't I just know now" Martha asked now a little annoyed Why does the dark one always have to play these games

"Because Dearie...it'll take the fun out of it" Rumpelstiltskin answered with a laugh before disappearing in a puff of smoke causing the baby to wake up and start crying.

"There there little one, don't cry" Martha cooed comforting Raina. Why was the dark one here, Who's this babe's mother, and what one earth did I get myself into.
