~13 years later: A few years before the curse~

"Where is that girl?" Martha asked herself looking for Raina. "Why did I have to be burdened with one of the most unreliable girl in the world"

"Here I am!" Raina exclaimed rushing into the inn with a basket in her hands.

"You're Late! You were supposed to be back by sunset!"

"I'm so sorry... I would've been here sooner but I lost track of time" Raina explained. "It's my birthday after all and I-"

"So while you were off wasting time, I was trying to keep business afloat." Martha remarked. "Honestly I thought I taught you better than that"

"But ma'am it's my birthday, I just wanted some time with my friends." Raina stated

"Enough! away with you! I have a lot to get done, and I can't have you constantly interrupting me!"

"But Martha-"

"Do as I say girl!!" Martha angrily yelled causing Raina to jump back. "I can't wait until until you're old enough to leave"

"Who says I'm not already old enough!" Raina exclaimed before running out of the inn to the barn where she lived in. Growing up in the inn was the worst, despite how kind Martha was to her when she was younger Raina's life was a living hell. The moment she turned ten Raina was forced to live in the barn and was never allowed into the inn.

"Some birthday this turned out to be" Raina muttered to herself as she pulled out a rolled up piece of paper. "I bet my real mother wouldn't have treated me this way" while Raina was growing up Martha told her that her mother was never coming to get her, and that she'll never have a real family. Raina did believe this until she read the letter that was left with her. Since she found Raina always read the letter on her birthday and whenever she felt unwanted which was sadly often:

Dear Raina, if you are reading this then fate has been able to separate us. I don't know what you think of me, but know that I love you even though our time together was very short, and believe me when I say this, I will find you and we will have the life together that we were meant to have.

I'm sure you have many questions about who I am and who your father is or unfortunately was. It pains me to write this but when we finally meet each other, your father will not be with us. You father was good man who would've loved you as much as I love you. Your father was killed because of a foolish mistake I made which also caused me to you lose as well.

But I do promise you Raina, we will find each other again and then we will be together again as a family.
Love your mother Regina.

"I will find my mother... I know I will" Raina whispered to herself as she looked down at the letter.

"Hey Martha where's that little girl of yours" A familiar voice called out from outside the barn. Malcolm, can't that old drunk just stay away for once.

"Oh don't worry about her love, that girl won't be bothering us at all-I made sure of it" Martha remarked which cause Raina to roll her eyes. Yeah Right.

"I still can't believe you're stuck with a girl like that...was she even worth the money"

"Hell no, I just wish she would leave so I don't have to look at that old brat" Martha stated which was followed by laughter.
