​ JK Rowling is an amazing person and author.  She is the famous author that wrote the lively harry potter series.  This is her story and inspiration.

The Early Adventurous Life of JK Rowling

​Joanne (JK Rowling) was a shy, creative, bright child.  She grew up with her beautiful sister, supportive mother, and unfaithful dad.  Joanne was born July 31st 1965.  She lived in Chipping Sodbury in western England Joanne may have fought with her sister Di, but she loved her.  Joanne loved to write plays and stories and Di would always act in them.  Joanne's mother was always supporting the activities she wants to do.  Her dad Peter on the other hand, always said that she would not stick to it, but writing was the one thing she kept at.

Growing Up

​She liked the name Potter better than her own because jokes were made about her name Rowling. Joanne moved to Tutshill, Wales when she was 9.  She was very unhappy because her grandmother Katherine just died.  She took her Grandmothers name as her middle name soon after.  She came up with some of the names of the characters from harry potter through her friends.  They shared the looks and personalities.  She thought of herself as Hermione Granger.

Family

​Joanne's mother found out she had multiple sclerosis.  This disease attacks the central nervous system.  At that time there was no cure for this disease.  Her mother was slowly dying. Her mother died at the age of 45.

School   

In 1983, Joanne decided she wanted to enroll in Oxford University.  She was not accepted.  She went to the University of Exeter.  There she studied French and classic literature.               

The Idea

The idea for Harry Potter came to Rowling on a train.  The idea just popped into her head.  She started imagining a black haired boy with glasses and was a wizard without knowing it.  She did not have a pen or paper and was too shy to ask.  She tried to remember it all until she had a pen. 

First Accomplishments

​Joanne moved to Portugal and got a job teaching. She kept writing her book. While in Portugal she got married and had a child, her name was Jessica. The marriage failed and Joanne moved back to England. When she went back home she did not have a job so she was on government assistance. So she looked for jobs and worked on the book. She worked on the book in a little coffee shop not far from her house. When she finish the first book she sent it to two agencies, the one that did accept her was Christopher Little Literary Agency. This agency was the one that helped her get this book published. She was published by Bloomsbury Publishing in England and Scholastic Books in the USA. 

       ​Fame and Fortune

​JK Rowling became superstar because of her books. She had so many fans at the movie premier, she was shocked!
