I woke up the next morning with Zach still in bed. Well, that's rare. I try to get up but realize that Zach is holding onto me as if I was a teddy bear. His arms tighten as I try to move and I don't want to wake him, so I finally give up. About an hour later, Zach starts to stir and in his moment of weakness, I am able to unwrap his arms from around my waist.
"Where are you going?" He asks. His voice is sleepy and I just want him to go back to bed since he hasn't had much sleep lately.
"Zach, go back to sleep. You have a day off and today I start teaching CoveOps."
"I remember CoveOps. So many fun memories. Like tailing you around D.C., wondering where you will go and then you told me exactly where to go. The Roseville football games and you in a curly red head wig. Oh, the sweet old days." He leans back on his arms and looks over to me.
"I love your attire, Mrs. Goode." He has a smirk on his face.
I know I am not wearing clothes. "Haha Mr. Goode, your attire is also pleasing. Plus, it's not like you haven't seen my body before." I get out from the covers and walk to the bathroom with a little extra sway to my hips.
When I get in the bathroom, I loudly lock the door and when I hear Zach get up from the bed, I deftly unlock it. Soon there is a lock pick wire in the key hole as Zach tries to open the door but he only locks himself out. I quickly take my shower before he realizes what I did and wrap a towel around my body right before he opens the door.
"Very clever Cammie, but that trick will never work for me again."
"I know it won't but I have many more tricks that I plan to use." I wrap a towel around my hair and dry the rest of my body. I can feel Zach's stares on me and I quickly put on a robe. I walk over to Matthew's room and find him jumping in his crib. He really is a bundle of energy. I think I use less energy on missions than I use on him. Actually, no I spent a lot of energy on my early "missions" which were life or death situations. He is a close second.
I quickly change his diaper and feed him. Then I dress him in a shirt and overalls. A freshly showered Zach walks into the room in basketball shorts and I hand him Matthew.
"Why'd you give me Matt?" He questions, following me back to our room.
"I need to get ready for work honey. Can you make breakfast today?" I say when I get to the closet. I drop my robe and put on some underwear and a thick black bra. Then I pull on some dark wash skinny jeans and a simple black v-neck top.
I brush through my shoulder length hair and then dry it since its still wet. For some reason, it takes hours to dry on its own. I put on a coat of mascara and some eyeliner, and that's it. I'm not much of a makeup girl. I grab my black leather jacket and walk to the kitchen where Zach is making french toast. My favorite. I grab a plate and stack 4 pieces on in a neat pile. Then I open the syrup and pour it over the top. I open a can of whipped cream and circle the bottom of the plate with it. Meanwhile, Zach is staring at me this entire time.
"I don't understand your need to make every plate of food like a 5-star restaurant's," He says, shaking his head.
"Maybe its just because that is what I'm used to since we had a chef that worked at THE WHITE HOUSE working at the academy." I reply. He shrugs and just randomly stacks some french toast on his plate, drowns it in syrup and digs in. Then he gets seconds and does the same. I swear he eats worse than an animal.
I slowly eat my food and also get seconds. But, this time, it's only two slices since Zach ate all the rest. I cover one slice in cream cheese and put fruit on top and stack the other slice on top to make a sandwich of sorts. (A/N: I have actually gone to a restaurant and had french toast served to me like this- it was amazing.) When I finished, I rinsed the dirty dishes and put them in the dishwasher while Zach entertained Matthew.
I walked into the living room to see Zach playing peek-a-boo with Matthew. Zach is just so adorable when he does things like this. He has a smile on his face and his dimples are pronounced. His eyes light up, and its like there is nothing in the world that could change that. Sadly, there is a lot in the world to change that, so I savor every moment of this Zach; when he doesn't have frown lines on his forehead or that spark dulled in his eyes.
I glance at my clock and realize that I only have 20 minutes until my first class starts. I quickly kiss Zach and Matthew goodbye and head towards the monorail. I quickly get in and it speeds me towards the caves where I crawl up the ladder that leads to Sublevel 1. I look at my watch to see that I have 2 minutes until class starts. Just enough to hide and make a cool impression like Solomon did his first day. Well, cool for him, but intimidating to us.
I watch as the first few girls arrive out of the elevator. Soon all the girls are down. I can see Ellie talking with a group of girls, all of them really excited. It was my job to scare some of them away from Covert Operations, and the Clandestine Services.
As the second-hand hits the 12, everyone stops talking. Some are looking around the room while others are looking at their shoes- well those will be easy to scare out of CoveOps.
"Close your eyes." My voice rings throughout the room. It echos off of each wall and takes a couple seconds for silence can fill the room again. Each girl has her eyes closed, some of their hands are in fists and twitching. Others are completely still; Ellie is one of them.
"You each have 5 seconds to point to where in this room I am." I shout and after 5 seconds, each of them has their arms up, all pointing in wrong directions, except for Ellie's. Well, I can't be mad, since I did train Ellie a bit last summer when a group of terrorists kept trying to capture Liz to create an atomic bomb for them.
"Ellie was the only one to be correct. Well, where exactly am I now, Ellie?" I ask moving in another direction, my steps silent. I kept moving around the room until I stopped right where I was before. I wasn't trying to scare Ellie, she is the Cammie of her class, but challenge her.
"You are by the elevators?" She says, questioning her answer.
"Nope. I'm right where I started. But hey, it's alright. It took me three years to learn to find someone when unable to see or hear them."
"Really?" Most of the class say simultaneously.
"Nope, I learned before my first CoveOps final. I got kidnapped by Solomon and Mosckowitz. The good old days. You can open your eyes now." They all look around the room trying to find me but failing. I step out from behind the coat rack that, along with some help from the shadows, concealed me completely from their view.
Many of them are dumbfounded that they didn't realize that there was a coat rack down here. The only object in the room. The walls are made of stainless steel and the room is chilly, hence the coat rack. It was a suggestion from me when they rebuilt the school. The school is built very similar to the old one that blew up, but a bit more modern and more secret passages that I snuck into the blueprint right before the architects opened the envelope. Anyways, the sublevels didn't need to be rebuilt since they were underground and very much protected, but I had the suggestion to add a coat rack.
After a few seconds, I yelled out, "Class dismissed."
They looked really confused.
Ellie in the true Sutton fashion, asked "What's the homework?'
She may be the Cammie of her grade, but she is very close to Liz too, with an IQ almost as high as Liz's when she first enrolled.
"Same as Solomon told my class our first day. Notice things."
At that, I walk to the elevators and head up to my mom's office.
