"Rosie, they are here! Hurry up!" Jenny was excitedly jumping around the house at 7 am. Thus is the earliest the has ever gotten up. I reckon she was so happy she did not feel sleepy at all.
The blue Volkswagen van has pulled up to our driveway. The paint was old and patched, the vehicle did not look like it was in it's best condition. The roof was packed with bags and backpacks, tigtly saftened and made sure they don't fall out. Out of the van came running Gemma and her electric blue hair. Jenny greeted her with a hug and a ton of kisses.
In the meantime, I dragged all of our belongings into the hall, and was leaning on the wall, breathing heavily from all the work.
"Let me help you with that." A familiar, husky voice spoke while coming through the door. I looked up to se Harry. It has been a year since I last saw him. He has moved out of the city for his education. I did not know wether I should be happy or annoyed.
"Since when do you help people?" I questioned, looking up at his smiling face.
Me and Harry did not really get along well. When we were little kids, our parents were close, so I spent quite a lot of time with him growing up. Our friendship has continued on to high school. But during our senior year, something happened. He changed. Started hanging out with the wrong crowd. We started fighting and in the end completely grew distant.
Now, things between us are quite indifferent."I actually am a nice person. Not towards everyone of course." he said as he picked up only Jen's bags and carried them to the car, leaving me alone to struggle with mine. He has not changed a bit.
"Thank you very much, such a gentleman!" I said, dropping the bags in the back.
"For the ladies, anytime. But you're not a lady, so I didn't see the need." he sat in the back of the van. I wanted to smack him with the bag I was holding, the only thing stopping me was how heavy the bag was.The van had 6 seats. At the drivers seat was Zach, a cool dude with dark brown hair, next to him, at the passenger seat was his girlfriend Tina. She was a perky, loud blonde. You would actually never put this couple together, but by some miracle, they suit each other extremely well.
Behind them were Gemma and Jen, they had already started blabbing on about boys. Then I realized. The thing I had feared the most has happened. I had to sit nex to Harry, since that was the only seat available.
I climbed in and saw just how the van was small from the inside.
"Great." I mumbled to myself after I sat next to him. He was an inch away from me, and my leg was touching his.
"God, why must you punish me like this?!" I cried. Harry turned his head towards me and lifted his brow.
"This is going to be an interesting trip." he smirked.
"Rose, do you have the map?" asked Tina, searching through the little departments and on the dashboard.
"Yeah, here it is." I passed it to Jenny, and we were ready to go.Zach turned on the radio, and we all sang along to the lyrics of 'All summer long' as our trip started.
Not long after, we left behind our little town, and were driving on the busy interstate.
Gemma has already fallen asleep, knowing her she was out partying all night, Jen has put in her earphones and shut out the outside world.
I looked at Harry, he was staring out of the window. His features got stronger. His jawline more defined and masculine. His brown hair is still unruly as it always had been.
I'm pretty sure he saw me looking and turned his head my way."You really must like staring at people." he smugly stated, holding his hand out of the window.
"Pardon me, I just could not resit your beauty." I said, every syllable I spoke was overflowing with sarcasm.
"Damn, I've actually missed your snarky comments." he let out a chuckle, leaning his head on the seat.
