"Tori Kelly?" A lady with a white blouse and navy blue pencil skirt with her hair tied back says. I stand up and straighten out my dress, white with floral print and black heels. I walk up to her and shake her hand firmly. Second job interview and I'm nervous as hell. I close the door behind me before sitting on the seat across from her. "My name is Julia Bates, I'm the CEO of this company." she says. "Yes, I've heard of you." I smile. She smiles coldly at me which causes chills to go down my spine. This is my backup if I don't get my dream job which is being a journalist for New York Times newspaper. Yes I'm a bit young but it's because I graduated from NYU early. All my professors said that I am too smart to be in there and talked to the dean of the school to let me graduate with the next class, which was two months ago. Two months, that's how long it took me to get the job interview at New York Times. When they called me and told me that I got the interview I called this company to schedule an interview for the next day, but for this one I would have to write about fashion, which I don't mind but it's fashion ONLY and I like to write about something everyday.
"Tori, it says on your resume that you volunteered at an animal clinic while you were in high school, why?" she asks.
"I'm an animal lover and I loved everything there, the only part I didn't like was that they teach you how to put the animals down, luckily I wasn't there when there was an animal that needed to be put down." I smile. She doesn't smile back.
"Then you volunteered at a fashion company, what did you do there?" she asked.
"When I first started I only fetched coffee for the workers and their lunches. Then I went up to interviewing people but then I left because I moved." I replied.
"Do you think you are perfect for the job?" she asks.
"Yes."
"Why?" I freeze, choking on nothing but air. Dammit! I hate when they ask why because I have to think of something on the spot. God, I never prepare for this part. Just breathe Tori, breathe.
"Because I love fashion! I mean who doesn't but I always keep track of what's in and what's out even though I don't agree with some of them, I mean as you can tell I'm into the innocent, vintage style but I know how to put fashion into words perfectly, you'll be surprised at how good I am." I say surprising both her and I with my confidence.
"Well Tori, I am intimidated by you." she says. "Really?" I ask. "Yes." she says then she stands. "I don't like to be intimidated by my employees." she says as she walks closer to me. "Get out!" she yells. I jump out of my seat and scramble out of the building into the streets. I catch my breath then stand up straight. Forget that bitch. I walk to the outlets across the street. The first store I go into is New York & Company. I still haven't found the perfect outfit for my birthday tomorrow. I want something sexy but comfortable. After searching through stores for hours I finally find a blue blouse with spaghetti straps, black skinny jeans, a mini leather jacket, and a pair of black, suede ankle boots.
Once I'm done I go back home where mom is making chicken alfredo, my favorite. We eat dinner then I take a shower, wash my hair, then go to bed; excited to finally turn twenty-one tomorrow.
