I ran out of the building, eager to go solve The Mystery of the Elevator Noise and Coattails. I know, long name, I renamed it just The Mystery; it wasn't like I had any other mysteries going on.

Anyway, I practically sprinted to the almost hidden alleyway. Once I got there, I cautiously peeked around the corner, making sure there wasn't anyone in the alley. There wasn't, so I walked into the alleyway, trying to be nonchalant incase anyone saw me. I hurried straight to the place where I heard the elevator noise and saw the coattails.

I stared at the wall for a few minutes, searching for anything. An outline of a door, a panel to call the elevator, anything. I decided to sit in the bakery on one side of the alley so I could see if anyone came in or out of the strange alleyway.

I went into the small bakery. It was pretty busy that day, so I had trouble finding a table close to the window. I finally got one that was in the perfect position to see out the window. I got out my homework, looking up from it every few seconds to check the alley.

For the first twenty minutes, it was uneventful. But finally! Something happened.

A woman who looked about twenty-five with (Oh my gosh!) black coattails rushed into the alleyway, looking very nervous. I stuffed my books in my bag and ran outside. I sprinted into the alleyway, just in time to see two parts of the wall slide together with a woosh!

I went over, dropping my backpack near where I had seen the wall slide together. Again I looked for an outline of the 'elevator'. Again I found nothing. I pressed at the wall, all around, even on the other side to make sure there wasn't a button or something i had missed. I did this for probably fifteen minutes.

Eventually I got mad.  So mad that I picked up my bag, found a rock lying on the ground and kicked it as hard as I could at the wall where I had heard the woosh! and ding!

Suddenly I heard the same noise, a woosh! and a ding!

I looked up to see two parts of the brick wall sliding apart.

I was in!
