I WAS IN!

Poppy had said not to go, but... I probably wouldn't be able to get in again, so...

I ran into the elevator, looking up and down the alley, making sure no-one saw me. There was no-one.

The doors slid shut. I jumped about a foot in the air as I heard a sudden voice.

"Welcome," it said, a clear woman's voice. I swiveled around, seeing no-one ("It must have just been a pre-recorded thing every time the doors open," I thought,) and taking in my surroundings.

The inside of the elevator was really fancy, made of marble, with mirrors on the walls. There was a panel with ten buttons on it. I wondered if the elevator went up or down, but then I realized that the building this elevator was in didn't have ten floors, so it must go down.

"Wow... ten floors!" I thought, pressing the button for the first floor. The elevator descended slowly, but soon the steel doors opened. "Level One," said the voice again, making me flinch.

I looked around, it was like a fancy kitchen store; everything was shiny, gray steel. "What is this place?" I thought, seeing rows and rows of tables (made of the same steel) with huge computers on each one.

I didn't see anyone, so I stepped out of the elevator.  I suddenly started thinking about where I was; what if Poppy was right?  What if this was like an underground criminal organization?  I turned around to get directly back into the elevator when a cold hand grabbed my arm.  I screamed and tried to run, but the grip was too strong.
