Day one.

it was the 22nd of April, 2012, when I started at my new school. I was extremely terrified.  I had moved to a lot of different places, and been to many different schools, but this one was the only one that got on my nerves. I used to live here. I lived in the country for 7 years; it’s a good little town. Not too big but not too small.  We moved away to the city, because of something that had happened with my father. It was a terrible time, but I’d rather not get into that.

The school was small, just how I remembered it. The teachers were all so welcoming, and also the students, but one student in particular spoke out to me. His name was Ethan. He was in year nine with me. He was the nicest person out of all of the people I had met here, today.

A week had passed and it was Friday afternoon, I was about to leave the school grounds, until I was called by a boy.

‘Amelia!’ Ethan shouts out, running towards me. ‘Wait up!’ he continues.

‘Hey, Ethan.’ I say, nicely, greeting him with a friendly smile.

‘What are your plans for this weekend?’ He asks politely.

‘Nothing really, homework, ha-ha. What about you?’ I reply.

‘Booorriingggg!’ he says, dragging out the ‘or’ sound. ‘I was thinking, maybe we could hang out?’ he adds looking at me with a cute smile on his face.

‘sounds good, it’d be good to get to know someone, as I don’t really have that many friends here, well, I don’t have any at all.’ I say, blushing.

‘I could be your friend?’ he says, smiling at me, shrugging his shoulders.

‘that would be nice, Ethan.’ I say, turning my head, to look at him, and I send him a warm smiling.

‘Hey, do you have a mobile?’ He asks looking at me with a worried face.

‘yeah, I do. Why do you ask?’ I reply.

‘can I have a look at it for a minute?’ he asks, holding out his hand.

‘Sure’ I say, as I reach for my phone, that is in my pocket. I reach out and put my phone, in Ethan’s soft, gentle, hand.

He unlocks my phone, and does something, and once he had finished, he passed me my phone back saying, ‘here, now we can organized something later tonight, for this weekend.’

‘That sounds good, thanks.’ I say, smiling at him.  ‘Well, I better go, mum will be wondering where I am. Talk to you tonight?’ I say, smiling at him.

‘Of course Amelia. Talk then! Bye’ He says waving his hand at him, and walks to face the road.

I arrived home, and did the usual deal with the ‘rent.  She asked me how my day was, if I made any friends, what I learnt, what parents usually ask. Once we had finished our little questionere, and had dinner, I went to my room and sat down at my computer. I turned on my computer, and logged into Facebook. I had a few friend requests and messages from the people at my new school. There were also a few messages from some friends from my old schools. I went through my friend requests and saw one from Ethan. I clicked ‘accept friend request’ and clicked on his name in the bottom right hand corner and clicked, ‘message’.

Ethan Garcia: Hey there!

Amelia King: Why hello!

Ethan Garcia: Did you see my name in your contacts? (;

Amelia King: Ummm… no..?

Ethan Garcia: Hehe! Check it

Ethan Garcia: well… o:

Amelia King: Ethanator, seriously..?

Ethan Garcia: What? Don’t judge!

Amelia King: No no no, I’m not, it’s just, so, original?

Ethan Garcia: Whatever, everyone calls me that!

Amelia King: Oh yeah, like who?

Ethan Garcia: Hmm, well, you know. Everyone.

Amelia King: sure….

Ethan Garcia: shut up and call me woman!

Amelia King: don’t tell me what to do!

Ethan Garcia: then don’t call me, see if I care!

Amelia King: fine!! But NOT cause you want me to.

Ethan Garcia: You love me. C;

Amelia King: no.

Ethan Garcia: FIESTY! REOOWW!

Amelia King: you’re so childish. Just hurry up and answer!

Ethan Garcia: I’ve answered!!

Amelia King: no you haven’t!

Ethan Garcia: ya!

Amelia King: oh. Sorry, lmao!.

We talked on the phone for a couple of hours that night, and then continued the talk on Facebook for most of the night. He is actually really funny. We have a lot of things in common. The weird thing was, we didn’t organise a time or place that we would meet up. I guess we can do that tomorrow. I think Ethan *Ethanator* and I will become good friends in good time.
