Taking back my offered hand as my mate ignored it and got up I felt a little twinge of sadness at the lack of trust. I knew to expect it but the lack of it still hurt more than I thought it had. I tried a little subtle flirting to see how she might react. I was both a little hurt and irritated at how easily she was able to brush off the flirting and at my own wolf whom wanted to come forward and check her over. With a breath I managed to keep him at bay. I watched as my mate dusted herself off and smelled the pain and distrust coming off her in strong, overbearing waves. My heart ached for my mate and I wanted to pull her into my arms and hide her from the world and whatever had her so edgy and distrusting.

I was only half surprised when she wouldn't let me look at her wrist. The pain radiated off her and watching as she kept moving it only made the pain radiation increase. Subtly, gritting my teeth, I contained myself since I wanted to hold the delicate joint and make sure it wasn't actually broken and to prevent her from aggravating the injury. I was surprised at how well my mate tried hide and suppress the pain and only thanks to my enhanced senses could I tell otherwise.

Internally I was having a constant battle and conversation with my wolf. He kept constantly trying to come out to meet her. He wanted to be with our mate and it took constant reminding to help keep him back. One of the points that helped restrain him was that our mate was a human who did not know about us. Finding out the wrong way might cause her to run and making it so we never find her again. These facts made my wolf whimper, whine, and try to point out that we could just claim our mate then she wouldn't be able to run. With an internal sigh I had to point out to him if we claimed our mate now she might also forever hate us and would bring on other negative effects. This caused my wolf to huff at me but helped keep him settled and hidden. I knew the constant internal battling with him was causing my eyes to continually change color but since most humans rarely catch on or notice the sudden changes, I assumed she was the same. That is until I smelled the fear beginning to overcome the pain coming off Rosellia. I discretely looked around in realized she was scared of me and when my eyes changed thanks to the wolf I noticed the terrible scent grew stronger. My wolf howled at me and didn't understand how we had managed to strike so much fear into our mate.

I watched as Rosellia took a step back and biting my tongue decided to try a different tactic since the current one wasn't working the way I had hoped. With a raise of my brow and sticking out my hand I introduced myself and hoped that she would return the gesture. I was delighted when she did so and when I felt her and enter my own I wanted to keep it there. I felt a twinge of disappointment when the handshake was already over. My hand felt like small electrical shocks were running though it and the warmth from them spread. When she said she had to be somewhere else I noticed the lie permeating from her but couldn't think of any other way to get her to stay. I instead settled with a kind smile and taking a step back to let her pass me, told her I hoped to see her again. I planned on us seeing each other again. James was already prepared to follow her since I knew he was a just around the corner and remained out of her sight. He would follow her until it I was better able to follow. I watched as Rosellia walked away and once she was out of my sight I easily flipped open my phone. After dialing Andy I impatiently waited for him to finally answer
