The party began without ceremony, unfolding the way a festival always did , gradually, and then all at once. From the edge of the square, it looked as if the town itself had stepped into motion. Lanterns were lit one by one, casting warm halos across the streets, and music drifted through the air, soft at first, then bold enough to pull people from their homes. By the time night settled in, there was no clear beginning anymore, only the certainty that the celebration had arrived.
This was not a gathering meant for a single person. It belonged to everyone. Families crowded the streets, up in the air, in waters, strangers stood shoulder to shoulder, and laughter moved freely between them. The scent of food—sweet, spiced, and smoky—hung low in the air, mixing with the glow of firelight and the steady rhythm of drums. Children weaved through the crowd, faces bright with excitement, while older voices rose in familiar songs passed down through years of repetition.
A party meant for one person but celebrated by everyone. Darunphi's way of celebration for their ruler since the beginning of their foundation.
As the celebration deepened, the town seemed to forget itself. Worries were loosened, routines abandoned, and time slowed under the weight of music and light. Conversations grew louder, gestures wider, and smiles easier. People spoke of tradition and luck, of endings and beginnings, as if the night itself invited such thoughts.
From a distance, it was clear that this party was more than noise and color. It marked a moment when the ordinary paused, when the town gathered to become something brighter together—if only for a night that would be remembered long after it ended.
But such a dazzling night were never meant to last long. Tearju watched a girl from a far waiting for the perfect moment to make his move. The girl wore a soft lavender dress that twirled around her knees as she wandered through the crowded plaza. Her short strawberry blonde swayed with every move she made. She looks so small in such a crowded place, but who would have thought that such a small person can caused so much trouble.
She didn't notice the uneven cobblestones beneath her feet. One misstep, a slipper catching on a stone, and she stumbled forward. Arms flailing, she collided with a low table stacked with bottles of amber alcohol. The table tipped violently, sending glass tumblers crashing to the ground.
In her panic, she knocked a jug toward a nearby firelight. Flames leapt instantly, licking the dry banners and edging dangerously toward the monument. The moment Tearju waited for has finally arrived.
Panic erupted across the plaza. Guests screamed and scrambled in every direction. Musicians abandoned their instruments mid-song. Lanterns toppled, sparks flying into the night. Smoke curled skyward as the fire spread, threatening to consume the monument entirely. Tearju flew towards the fire and raised her hand and called out the rhym for calling water.
'D*mn! She sure knows how to call some fierce flames. *cough*!
"Tearju!!" Someone called out my name, I'm not sure who did but it's probably my parents or someone who recognized me. For now I have to deal with this fire first.
Some townspeople, gifted with the tribe's elemental powers, rushed forward. Hands raised, they summoned streams of water that arced through the air, hissing as they met the flames. Others threw blankets and buckets, stamping and dousing frantically. The girl froze, wide-eyed, cheeks blazing red, realizing her innocent misstep had caused this disaster.
By the time the fire was finally brought under control, part of the monument lay in ruins, blackened and fractured. The plaza was filled with smoke and the smell of scorched wood, and the crowd murmured in disbelief. The girl in the lavender dress stood trembling, not because she had meant to, but because her clumsiness had thrown an entire celebration into chaos.
"Tearju!"Someone slammed at me and clinging to me so tightly that almost made me lost balance. When I look at it, it was this cute bun with tears in his eyes again. "Tearju are you okay?" I feel like an arrow just shot on my heart. How can someone be this cute. Those purple eyes brimming with tears and chubby cheeks are just so addorable. I wish I could smooch them up.
"Baby!!!" My mother and father arrived beside me, I didn't even notice it.
"Baby are you hurt?" My mom cupped my face checking for any wound on my face and slowy checked my body after. My father beside me were silent but his eyes were filled with worry.
"I'm fine mom." I assured her, feeling slightly guilty somehow. I'm not really used to getting cared for and I don't thick I could ever be. It felt so strange.
"How could you suddenly rush like that! What if something happened to you?"
"Everything's fine mom, I'm okay, I'm not hurt."
Oh man! This is really maddening. I didn't think they would worry over me like this even though I'm totally fine.
"How is that--"
"Darling, I think we better call some healer to check Tearju. You can scold her later all you want after." Dad interjected while holding mom's shoulders.
"Right! Where's the healer?" She then turn around to look for the healer. I sigh with relief after she left.
"Tearju will talked later."I jolted from hearing hearing my fathers voice. His eyes were serious, like he knows it all. My hand trembled slightly from nervousness.
"Oh sh*t! I'm doomed. My father definitely knows."
"I-I think you have some thing that you need to deal with dad."I pursed my lips after saying that. I'm really not good at this, I get caught so easily.
"Tearju!"A tiny hands clutch my mines. I squeezed it lightly, somehow it made my heart calm down. Today was definitely a long tiring day.
Now, it's time to face the female lead.
