Dear Diary,

This is me again, Steph. This will be the last time I'm gonna write here... in this notebook that my bestfriend, Drew gave me as his first gift. This notebook not only represents our friendship but also my unrequited love for him. Now everything is just a memory. How? Let me take you back to the first page...

[Drew's POV]

My girlfriend and I broke up.

She's gonna move somewhere far because she got offered a better job.

I told her not to go. I asked her to stay with me.

She said she wanted to, but she didn't want to lose the chance. She needed the job.

I didn't want to lose her. I love her so much. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Every day spent with her is the best day of my life. I want to spend more of it with her... in the future. I couldn't think of anyone else worth all the pain but her. So I respond,

"Fine. I will wait for you."

"Waiting isn't gonna do good for us. We have to break up. I'm sorry."

then she left without saying a word. She didn't even look back.

Suddenly I felt like the whole world turned its back on me. I felt like I was in the middle of the sea, alone, with all the sharks and other dangerous and horrifying creatures. I felt like she's making me lift 10 ships all at once. It is too heavy. It burdens me. Is this what it feels like? No, I think its worse than that. Other people would just die lifting 10 ships at once, alone, in the middle of the sea. But I am alive and its too painful. That made it worse, because I couldn't do anything to escape from it. Maybe this is my "karma".

I went home, bought myself a drink. I checked my phone and my bestfriend's name appeared. It's Steph.

"Hey. How did the plan go? Did she love it?"

Unknowingly, the tears started falling.

I was supposed to propose to her.

[Steph's POV]

My bestfriend, Drew is the biggest jerk ever.

We've been bestfriends since grade school. This guy hadn't been into any serious relationships before.

He is tall, a good singer and a spoiled brat. He was a casanova - intelligent, rich, and undenyingly handsome - not until she met Casey.

Casey is sassy, caring, workaholic and good in cooking. She is very beautiful, like the woman of every man's dream. She is the only woman that has ever changed Drew. She drives him crazy.

Drew would always ask me to help him make surprises for her. There was even a time when he put notes in Casey's apartment.

"Favorite mo ba 9? Kasi mukhang 9 love na ako sayo."

"Shades ka ba? Sa tingin ko kasi bagay na bagay ka sa akin eh."

"Cellphone ka ba? Pakiramdam ko kasi kulang ang araw ko kapag hindi kita nakakasama."

"Dilim ka ba? Kasi kapag nandyan ka, wala na akong makita pang iba."

"Camera ka ba? Kasi tuwing nakikita kita, napapangiti ako."

And when she gets home, Drew would sing to her.

Hello beautiful How's it going?

I hear it's wonderful in California

I've been missing you, it's true

But tonight I'm gonna fly

Yeah tonight I'm gonna fly

I could go across the world and see everything

and never be satisfied

if I couldn't see those eyes

You could see by the look on their faces how much they were very in love with each other.

Sometimes I envy them, making me think about my own love story and prince, whom I know will never come.

He would give her flowers, tulips is her favorite.

Drew never does this to anyone but her. She is the only woman that he has ever loved. And Drew is also the only man Casey has ever loved. They are the perfect couple.

So it made me really happy when Drew asked me to arrange his proposal to her.

I got everything set up.

At the lake, with all the lights hanging by the trees, I put their photos - Drew and Casey watching the sunset, their anniversary gifts, Drew singing to her, Casey baking cake, both of them on a camping trip, Drew sleeping, Casey working on her papers, both of them riding a bicycle, their first kiss and many more.

I put red roses on the ground, there was a violinist to make it more romantic.

You can see the stars and constellations from above.

I placed the candle light in the middle of their table, surrounded by cushions and throw pillows.

The place is very peaceful and beautiful.

Drew was really happy and excited that day. He said to me,

"I never thought this day would come. I mean, its sooner than I thought."

"You look really good in that suit."

"Thanks, Steph. I wouldn't have done all these without you."

I smiled.

He hugged me.

Then I left.

I went to the bar, trying to get drunk.

I didn't know what I was doing that time. I couldn't explain the feeling.

I am really happy for them but my heart feels like it is being tormented by thorns.

He's my bestfriend, of course I should be happy for him.

But part of me thinks... I hope she says no. I hope he hadn't met her. I hope she hates the scenery, the music, the food... and everything.

All these selfishness, I don't know what is right anymore. Maybe if I get my mind off this 'proposing plan of his' I will feel better. Maybe tomorrow I'm gonna be fine again.

I hurried back to my house and received Drew's text.

"We broke up."
