Just like kissing your teacher, right?

Prologue:

Alexander thought he had gotten the job of his dreams, well, not exactly. After graduating from the University, he started as a teacher at the local school, teaching Mythology. He knew he didn't yet have it all... He was ready to settle down and make an honest living.
He asked the girl of his dreams to marry him, and without no surprise she said yes. Everything was perfect. Shortly before the wedding they found out that she was pregnant. It only added to their happiness.
He should have known that nothing that was this perfect, ever lasted. Tragedy would strike again...
Samuel, his best friend, was also his best man... As he stood in the church, his heart was rushing at a thousand miles a second, his nerves was on the edge and he couldn't wait for Alison to get to the church so that they could finally start their lives together.
"Calm down Alex, you will have no nails left after this is done..." he heard his friend chuckle next to him. Alison was late. That was normal for a bride to be late, tradition always called for it right?
"I know, but I wish Ali wouldn't be late, I can't wait. What if she changed her mind, what if she-"
"Stop saying that. Alison loves you, she will get here, you'll see. All good things are worth waiting for, remember?" Sam was right, he would just have to suck up his nerves and wait....
It seemed like forever, all the guests were getting restless, but Ali did not show... He was about to go out to go look for her, when he heard sirens in the distance. First an ambulance came rushing by, then a police car, and not long after, a fire truck..
"I don't have a good feeling about this. I have to go look for her, Sam." He was already on his way to his parked car, when Sam came running after.
"Wait! I am coming with you!" Both of them jumped into Alex's car, and pulled out of the church parking lot... They didn't get far down the road, when they saw an accident scene. The police car, ambulance and fire truck were there. He brought the car to a screeching halt when he recognised the silver sedan. It was Julia's car.... It had collided with a truck.... Suddenly he saw a fire coming from under the truck, very close to the car....
He heard a girl scream, it sounded like Ali. He could see the emergency units trying to open the bashed car door, but it wouldn't give in, she was stuck... He yelled back to her, trying to reach her, but the police held him back. He could see her face covered in blood from the cuts and bruises caused by the broken windows, she was dazed, but cried.
Their eyes met. He felt everything inside himself break, and he tried his best to break through the locked arms of three police men, but just as he broke free, his eyes noticed as the fuel of their car drip top close to the fire that had started...
"Alex, help-"
There was a huge explosion as the fuel caught the fire, the force pushed them back, he screamed with a pain he had hadn't experienced since his mom and dad's accident...
The last thing he could remember was being thrown back by the blast and everything going dark...

Five Years Later...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was still numb, even though it had been five years since Alison's death... He sat on a rock looking out on the beach. This was their "special place", and he had always come here to remember her. The pain just didn't want to go away.
He had woken up in a hospital with a broken arm, as he was thrusted really hard against a police car due to the force of the explosion, and it took him about a year to recover, but he also didn't talk for a year, being in almost what some would call a catatonic state, he also spend it in a deppressive state, so he lost two years of his life, locking himself in his flat, not going to school to do his teaching. The faculty understood and gave him leave for which he was grateful.
A cold breeze brushed his hair aside, and he lifted his head. That was not his whole dilemma, he had since started teaching again, and slowly started getting back into society, but something else was bothering him today. A few months ago, he ran into someone he hadn't seen in 10 years.
Emily was more beautiful than ever, and that's exactly what bothered him, why was he seeing her as beautiful now, when he was still hurting over the loss of Ali...
He wasn't ready to move on, was he? He couldn't be, he didn't want to be...
He heard footsteps nearby, thinking of which, it was Emily. She came to sit next to him on a rock, putting a hand on his back. She seemed so mature, not like the stupid young blonde girl he knew in school. It was refreshing seeing her like this. She was well spoken, and well dressed, carrying herself like a proper lady. She had grown up.
"You still miss her don't you. I really an sorry about what happened. I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like Alex."
"Yeah, thanks. What are you doing here?" he didn't bother to look in her direction, her pressence so close to him was disturbing enough...
"I figured you would be here, I just wanted to be here. You know, I'm here if you need a shoulder. I am sorry about the things that happened in our past. But I am not the same person. I'm here for you Alex."
"Thanks Emily, that means a lot..." This time he did look over at her, she had a white summer dress on, with a pair of beach flats, and her blonde hair was hanging loose, her complexion free of make-up. She really was beautiful. Something in himself broke again, and he leaned forward, capturing her bare lips. At first she seemed shocked, but soon gave in to the kiss.
Later that day they ended up in his apartment, spending the rest of the day in his bedroom. Years of bottled up hate and love and regret, and pain came crashing down all at once as their lips met again, the heat between them exploding in sheer passion which could not quite be explained....
Her skin felt so good against his was the only thing he could think of when he woke up in the middle of the night, feeling her legs wrapped around his... He could not believe that all this had happened. He still hurt over Ali, but he also felt a new emotion.
Was it really the right time to move on, and finally let Alison rest in peace? He knew he would always love her, more than life itself, but he could never get her back... And now Emily was back...
He quietly got up and went to the living room, taking Ali's picture as he sat down on the sofa. It faced away from the bedroom door.
Emily awoke when she did not feel him next to her, and she also got up quietly, wanting to go look for him around the apartment. A smile crossed her face, she was so happy to have Alex back. She hadn't ever really stopped loving him, not even when he crushed her on Prom Night...
She tip toed into the living room, but stopped in her tracks, when she saw him sitting there, holding a picture of Ali. Was he crying? She knew he still loved Alison, but she also wanted him to love her now, which at this moment seemed impossible. It wouldn't even be worth it. For a moment she regretted ever coming back. Why did love hurt so much?
She turned on her heels and went back to bed. When he came back into the room, she pretended to be asleep. She waited until she could hear that he was asleep again, before she could take her chance to get away. She did not want to go, but she knew she would only be living in hope if she stayed with a man who did not love her, maybe imagining Ali as he kissed her, never even really seeing her...
A tear ran down her her cheek as she got dressed, quietly leaving the apartment, never to look back again...
