Late into the night she awoke from her sleep, trying to focus on her surroundings. Arms were wrapped around her, she looked up and saw that Kale was still holding her, he was asleep. They had fallen asleep on the beach.
After they kissed he just held her for a long while, they laid down on the sand, looking up at the stars until they fell asleep.
She had told him about her life back in Fresno, about her step dad, friends she had, and he had told her about his mom being an addict since he was young, his father leaving them and being Alex's best friend, and she had asked him why he pushed people away.
He didn't go into details, only that he got drunk one night and ended up in a reform school, he didn't want to elaborate, but she got the picture. He had opened up to her in some sense. Since then he hadn't touched alcohol or any sort of narcotics.
He looked like the bad boy with bad habits, she might have thought him to be a drug addict, a mosh pit maniac, but no, he was the total opposite, keeping to himself, clean and sober.
He did not expect anything in return, and she was glad. He surely wasn't like one of those guys she knew in Fresno, that just wanted to take advantage of a vulnerable girl. She felt safe and comfortable with him.
He woke up while she was looking up at him, and smiled. For the first time she saw how beautiful his smile was. The total opposite of the guy she had met the first day at this new school.
Rhys had been there to defend her, the first guy she liked. The perfect blonde guy, but he wasn't even on her mind right now. She liked Kale just as he was, his dark hair, green eyes, his lips was soft, she took in his features as she smiled back at him.
"Hey. How you feeling?" He leaned down and kissed her forehead. He sat up and she sat up, he looked into her eyes, sincerely wanting to know how she was doing. He had opened up to her, more than he had opened up to any one else. She hadn't judged him, listening as he opened up.
"Better, I guess, dreading school tomorrow, how do I face him?" She looked down and he put his hand under her chin, lifting her so she would look at him once again. He could see the vulnerability in her eyes, she was scared and uncertain. She had fallen asleep in his arms, it felt good holding her. He did not want to let her go, ever again.
"Hey, don't you worry about that now, I will be there right next to you, I'm not going anywhere. We will figure this out together..."
"We?" She smiled shily, wondering what he meant by it. Together... The word echoed in her mind.
"Well, you know what I mean, unless you dont—" he stuttered..
She didn't let him finish. He was cute when he was nervous, so before he could finish his sentence, she kissed him. Just like before. She didn't want this night to end. He returned the kiss eagerly, his hands pulling her close, finding every inch of her.
He hated when she broke the kiss shortly whispering out of breath, "I want there to be a 'we' as well". He didn't hesitate or wait as his lips went to her neck, he wanted everything. He wanted her.

It was way past midnight when they stood at her front door. She was hoping her mom was asleep, as he dropped her off, giving her one more kiss.
"I wish I didn't have to say goodbye, school seems so many hours away." He had a sexy smile as he gave her one last kiss and said his goodbye. She watched him walk away. He had since put on his tshirt. He had a different kind of sexy, nut she loved it. He was different than the boys she used to hang with back in Fresno.
She didn't want him to leave, didn't want to watch him leave, but she knew she wasn't supposed to stay out....
She went inside and closed the door behind her.
Her mother was sitting on the couch, giving her a fright as she tried to tip toe to the kitchen, only noticing her mother when she spoke up.
"Where have you been? We need to talk about your father..." She could hear her mother had been crying. This part of the conversation could no longer be avoided...
