(Y/n) pov
I stormed back to the carriage wondering what just happened. I wanted answers and I was damn sure going I get them.
"What the bloody hell was that?!" I demanded slamming open the door.
Sirius, James, Perter, and Remus stared at me, probably questioning my outburst but I didn't care, I had started and now I was going to finish.
"First you torment us, giving us no breathing room at all! Then you.. You play hero when I could've handled it? Since when has Sirius Black stood up for me?!"
"I will never let anyone.... Hurt a girl" he hesitated I looked at him suspiciously before nodding awkwardly.
"Oh, well... I could've handled it." I snapped out of my stupor, realizing how stupid I was to think he was saving me specially. Of course it was just him stopping a big git from hitting a girl.
"Of course you could've. I just stepped in." He said shrugging. I felt like complete shit right now and I didn't want to argue.
"Whatever." I said, sitting down next to Lily.
Sirius's pov
She noticed my hesitation, I wish I didn't have to lie to her. I wish I could tell her why I really stopped Malfoy. I mean sure he's a bloody git who deserved it, but also because the very thought of seeing (y/n) hurt made me want to kill someone. And now as I look at her next to lily, I just wanted to pull her into me, to make sure she was safe. But I can't do that. She would laugh, reject me completely. She wouldn't love me, but I do love her.
Hours later
(Y/n) pov
The rest of the ride was in silence, we all ignored each other, me and Lily having silent conversations with our eyes.
When we finally made it to Hogwarts it was 7:00pm. We got on the carriages the marauders decided to leave us alone and go in a different carriage luckily.
We got into Hogwarts, going straight to the main hall. Each house say at their respective tables. Black and the others left Lily and I alone, but I caught James staring at Lily, Black staring at me, and Peter giving both me and Lily these creepy hungry rat like looks. I shuddered slightly at what might be going through his creepy brain. We watched the sorting, Gryfendor got 50 new eager first years, with bright smiles and wide eyes. After the sorting we feasted like always. Lily and I were able to catch up with Alice, Molly, and Jaqulyn, a foreign exchange student from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. She had all the grace and beauty of Beauxbaton but she was an official Hogwarts girl now. We only got a half and hour at dinner but we all shared a dorm room so we could talk all night. We didn't start school until the next Monday so we could stay up as late as we want for a couple days.
Once dinner was over, all the Gryffendoor's gathered in the common room to welcome the first years. I couldn't remember all their names, but they were all very nice. And innocent, very innocent.
Our small group if girls, we've decided to call ourselves the Kaitiakis, gathered by the fire at 11:30pm to discuss our summer. The common room was still bustling but right now no one was paying any mind to us. While we were waiting, I observed Arthur bashfully check out Molly (I'll keep that in mind) Frank give Alice a quick peck on the cheek (aw!) and no marauders (yay!) but I wanted to keep an eye out for them. Just in case.
"So you'll never guess what I did this summer."
(Lily's pov)
We all stared at (y/n) in anticipation.
"Well?" I prompted "what'd you do??" She looked around, making sure no one was listening, then she smiled her "I've done something awesome" smile
"I made a new spell." (Y/n) smirked.
"Nu uh!" "How!" "No way!" "Dang" all chorused around the group. Making a new spell was troubling, even for a 5th year.
"I'll show you it in private, later." She promised, I was impressed, not many people would want to even attempt that.
We all looked around, and I spotted the Marauders watching us secretly. I didn't know why they were, so I whispered "Marauders, 2.o'clock." Casually grabbing my bag at the same time. (y/n) rubbed her eyes locking at the clock that was above the marauders, also catching a quick glance at the infamous group.
"gosh" she yawned " it's 1:47am. I don't know about y'all but I'm getting some sleep." She said stretching.
"Same." I said standing up. The other girls nodded, joining us. Together we all walked up to our dorm, pretending to be tired.
(James pov)
Lily spotted us first. I knew she would, we weren't very well hiding and she was one of the smartest, most observant person I knew, besides Moony, of course. She causally told the other Kaitiaki's we were there while grabbing her bag. (Y/n) quickly glanced at us then the clock above, pointing out the time and that she was tired. Sadly they all decided to go to bed, so I couldn't talk to lily alone.
"They travel in packs! I swear!" I said frustrated. The marauders nodded in agreement. We all sat down in front if the dying fireplace.
"What spell do you think (Y/n) was talking about?" Padfoot asked. I shrugged inwardly chuckling about how he immediately asked about (y/n) he was as bad as me. He had a better chance then I did though, never mind that both girls seem to hate us. He should have a small piece of hope still. (y/n) wanted Sirius to have a romantic reason for saving her from Malfoy. I knew he did, but she didn't and that disappointed her, I saw how she looked after Sirius shrugged her off. I knew that look, someone who gave up all hope, someone who had just a tiny bit of light left get snubbed out, the look of someone who was rejected.
