*4 years later*
"You have to be really quiet or you'll wake up daddy and Luca," I say to Lucinda as I carry the breakfast tray. Today is Matteo's birthday and she wanted to make him blueberry pancakes for breakfast. I push open the door with my foot and see Matteo and my precious Luca still sleeping. He looks so much like Matteo it's scary. I know he and Lucinda will be heart breakers when they get older.
"Mommy now," Lucinda whispers as she stands by Matteo's bedside. I nod my head and she begins poking Matteo in the face. I smile at her signature way to wake him up. It's so cute. Matteo sleepily opens his eyes and smiles at Lucinda.
"Good morning princess," he says softly.
"Happy birthday daddy," she whispers. Matteo kisses her on the cheek and I place the breakfast tray on his nightstand.
"Good morning my queen," Matteo says pulling me down for a kiss. He places a hand on my growing tummy and rubs. After we had the twins Matteo and I decided to wait to have another baby, and low and behold I'm pregnant again, but thankfully with a single little boy.
"Eat your breakfast honey. We have a long day planned for the birthday king," I sing. Matteo kisses me one last time before I walk to my side of the bed to wake up Luca. He's so different from Lucinda. He's very quiet and shy, but if anyone picks on her his anger will snap. He's a lot like Matteo in that way, and he never leaves my side. He's my little shadow. I kiss his forehead. "Prince Luca wake up my darling boy," I say feathering kisses on his face. He stretches and his eyes flutter open. "Good morning honey," I say rubbing his dark curls of hair out of his face.
"Hi mommy," he whispers snuggling into me. I hug his tiny body and savor the feeling of comfort. Ever since the twins were born both Matteo and I have centered our worlds around them. They are the reason we do everything. Matteo is still a silent advisor and at first I was not too happy about it. I talked shit on the regular about it, but now it makes me happy because I know The Family will protect Sophia and the twins. They made it clear when we decided to send Sophia away a month ago. She has grown into such a beautiful grown woman, but her bodyguard, Grayson, introduced her to the lifestyle that we tried to shelter her from. He broke her, and Luca was furious for his own reasons. We all decided that for her safety she'd be staying in a secluded part of Paris away from everything. We visit her around the holidays and over the summer, but try to keep it minimal for safety reasons.
I take the twins to their room and make them a warm bath in each of their bath tubs. Lucinda undresses in the closet and Luca undresses in the bathroom. I stopped bathing them together when they turned two because they don't need to see each other naked and it's just down right creepy. Luca gets into his bath tub and sits silently playing with his toys. Lucinda runs in with her robe on and I help her into the tub without getting it wet.
"Mommy is Auntie Jolie coming over today," ly asks as she plays with the bubbles.
"Yes she is and she's bringing Eliza too," I say wetting her dark wavy hair. Her hair is thick and curly like mine, but everything else is all Matteo. After bathing the twins Matteo comes in and gets Luca like always. He dresses him in the bedroom and I dress Lucinda in the closet. "So what do you want to wear to daddy's party," I ask her as I skim through her dresses. Lucinda points at a dark blue sleeveless A-line dress and I shake my head. If the girl had it her way she'd wear blue to everything. I help her into her underwear and put her black slip on her. I grab the dress and let Lucinda grab her navy and gold flats. When we enters the room Matteo is helping Luca into his little black dress pants. I know the twins will be tall like their dad because they are a little big for their age. I sit Lucinda at her vanity and begin drying her hair.
"Mommy can I have curls," she asks and I smile at her before nodding my head. I don't always give her a blowout, but that's what she calls curls. Once I'm finished with her hair I help her into her dress and she slips her flats on. "I look so pretty mommy! Thank you," she says hugging me. I smile at her and kiss her cheek.
