You know that awkward stage in life where you have to stand in front of the mirror and decide if the dress you have on you is flattering, or if it's making you look like a potato. I was there.

Mother was taking me out shopping at some name designer to buy a dress for my upcoming graduation. She knew that I was going to a party after, she wasn't stupid, and wanted to make me look, "hot." As she so put it.

"Cosima," she called from the other side of the dressing room,"please tell me this one is the one."

I wasn't going to lie, I didn't like this dress any more than I did the last one. But for my mothers sake I changed back into my own clothes and hopped out of the dressing room with the white dressed draped over my left arm while I carried my phone in the other.

Smiling I nodded,"I love it ma."
The look of relief flashed across her face,"Thank goodness, we are spending too much time on a dress and have to get in for shoes." She snatched the clothing from me and scurried off to the front desk with her tiny short legs. My mother was shorter than I and I found it adorable. I quickly followed after her to the line and checked my phone for any messages from Ann, my best friend since grade school. None yet. Her ma and herself went shopping today just for graduation.

Not paying any attention I almost tripped over my older brother. "Cosima," he scolded and crossed his arms. My brother was build pretty well, after he went to college he started working at the gym just to impress the ladies. There he met his friend Alyn. "James," I mocked and looked around,"Alyn?" I asked. Cursing from behind me he walked around,"Hey Cosmo." He smirked at his nickname. Rolling my eyes I walked back to my mother, placing my hands on the cool surface of the counter and waited for her to pay.

"Ma, was it necessary to bring James and Alyn?" I asked.

"Cosima. I know you don't like them but I thought it would be nice to spend time together before you left", Mother said.

"And dad?"

"He's coming from work", she said sighing.

Shaking my head I turned around,"As per usual." I quickly turned to leave into another section of the store before Alyn stopped in front of me,"Maybe you should give your dad a break. He's been working hard and-"

"Alyn. You and I both know that he doesn't want anything to do with me so please." I side stepped him before walking out and entering the shoe department. Studying the various amount of heels and flats, deciding on a black pair I quickly bought them myself before my mother had a say in anything.

"Cosima," I deep voice said from behind me as I took my bag from the cashier. Studying the look on her face I realized who it must have been.

"Hi dad."
