" It's nothing," Meghana argued.
" It's the fourth time," Vysna said, frowning.
" No it isn't," Meghana countered.
" It is the fourth time," the nurse finally said, " I have seen you here just last week," and Meghana couldn't retaliate.
Vysna had brought Meghana to the doctor. It was a Sunday, and most of the doctors didn't take any patients unless it was an emergency. So, Vysna had brought Meghana to the school nurse, whom she had asked to somehow convince Meg to eat, but even this was not working.
Vysna couldn't bear it anymore, Meghana had been fainting a lot lately. At first, Vysna thought that after visiting the clinic, Meghana would at least take basic care but she dismissed the doctor's advice and wouldn't follow the prescription.
Meghana had been falling ill more often for the past few days. Vysna tried many times to find out what was causing the illness but couldn't pinpoint the reason. It took days for Vysna to figure out the problem and she knew that it would take many more days to find a solution to the problem.
Meghana for some reason was not eating enough. She, for the past few days, made excuses when they sat for lunch. She skipped lunch stating that she was either not hungry or had just eaten a heavy breakfast or had an upset stomach. Vysna couldn't figure out a way of making her speak on why she was doing so but she was determined to get to the bottom of the situation.
After the doctor prescribed basic multivitamins and told her to eat nutritious food, Meghana only nodded and they exited the clinic.
On their way out Vysna said, " Hey, shall we go to a new cafe that's open nearby, I heard that it has good reviews."
" Umm... I am not hungry, I'd rather go to the library..." she tried to dodge it again.
" Library? You? Library? " Vysna spoke, raising her eyebrows.
" It is what it is... why are you doubting me? I can go wherever I want ..." Meg stalled.
This was clearly not working, Vysna had to try something else.
" At least accompany me to the cafe, it's okay if you don't wanna eat. I am starving, I've forgotten my lunch today." Vysna tilted her head and said, " Pretty please." What the fuck am I doing she thought.
Meghana's expressions changed, she seemed thoughtful. " Yeah, alright then..." she said after a while.
Vysna had chosen a cafe that was nearby because she didn't want Meghana to change her mind on the way. One way or another Vysna was sure that if Meg eats something she will ease out and talk about what was going on.
They went to the cafe on Vysna's EV. It was a short ride and they found a table immediately after they reached.
" I will have a club sandwich, I am famished," Vysna said and smiled, " What would you like?"
" I already said that I am not hungry, you order quickly and then drop me off at home. " Meg was very blunt.
No matter what she tried she couldn't get through.
Just eat something dammit. Something is troubling you and I know you will spill the beans as soon as food reaches your stomach, Vysna wanted to speak out but calmed herself.
She was about to ask her again but then heard someone calling her name. When she looked up she saw Ishil cheerfully walking towards their table and a little further behind him was Tashvin.
Two of the most unlikely people to find together she thought and to her surprise, they were followed by Aaden and Neela.
What the hell is going on here, a voice in her head said.
