Sitting in a coffee house in Seattle to keep out of the rain has become part of my daily ode. "You've been here since ten this mornin, Dani, don't you think it's time for you to go home?" I look up from the book j was reading to see my good friend Maddox Taykor.

"Are you closing?" I ask him, a smirk playing on my lips. He lets out a light laugh and shakes his head. "Then I'm staying." I chuckle. He opens his mouth to say something but my cell phone going off stops him before he can.

I'm confused when I see the caller ID. Calum Davidson. I haven't spoken to him since that dreadful day at the abandoned warehouse where my bestfriend died and where my ex boyfriend almost died himself. "Hello?" I answer warily.

"Dani? Oh, God, I'm so glad you picked up." Calum breathes out. I sit up, dropping my book onto the floor. "Listen, Dani, something happened. You need to come home."

I swallow hard. "Are you okay? Calum, what's going on, are you hurt?" I demand, getting a curious but worried look from Maddox. I hold a hand up to quiet him.

"Dani, Dani, Dani, I'm okay. Its not me. It's-"

"Carson." I finish for him.

Carson and I have not spoken since our fight after I came back to Ventura when he told me to leave and forget about him and move on. He emailed and texted and called for at least two years. I admired his persistence, but he did eventually give up.

"Dani. Dani, are you there?" Calum speaks, breaking me from my thoughts.

Clearing my throat I breath out and speak again. "Yeah, yeah, I'm here. Listen, I'm gonna be on the first flight out and be there as soon as I can ok? I'll see you soon." I tell him hanging up.

"What's going on?" Maddox asks following me to one of the computers.

"I don't know but I have to go to California." I tell him, not wasting any time in ordering a plane ticket.

Once that's ordered and printed out, I go to leave the coffee house but Maddox stops me. "Dani, wait. What about Kyle? Yknow your boyfriend that you live with."

"I'll call him from the plane." I shrug.

"Ok well what about me?" He questions, making my heart melt in the process.

I sigh kissing him on the cheek. "I'll call you when I land, okay? I have to go." And with that, I leave.

It's a fifteen minute walk from the house to the apartment I share with Kyle but with how quickly I'm running I get there in less than ten. As soon as I get home, I run into my bedroom and throw all my necessities into a duffle bag, leaving a note for Kyle on the island for whenever he gets home.

I'm coming, Car, I'm coming.
