Chapter 10

I awake being held in Eric's arms. I try to get up but he pulls me back down, "where do you think you're going?" He mumbles "to get ready, the second stage starts today" he doesn't respond he just nuzzles his head into my neck. "Eric, I need to get ready" "fine" he says and I get up and go to the bathroom. I change into a pair of Eric's joggers, one of his shirts and some combat boots. I come out and Eric is ready.
He locks the door behind us and interlaces his hand with mine. We walk to the room we will be at for the second stage of training. I walk in first and sit with cate and Christina. Eric walks in a couple minutes later and leans his back up against the wall. "The second stage of training is emotional. You will be facing your worst fears in a simulation. We are going in ranking order from last to first so Chris your first." Four states before closing the door behind him. I'm the last to go. I'm going to be here for a while.
Once everyone else has gone Eric comes and sits next to me. I'm bouncing my leg up and down because I'm so nervous but Eric puts a his hand on my thigh to stop me. "Don't be nervous" "hard not to be" I reply when four opens the door and looks between me and Eric. "Storm your up" I walk in and four closes the door behind me. "I guess you guys have made up" he says kinda disappointed. Does he like me. No he just doesn't like Eric. "Yea for now" he injects me with the serum and I close my eyes and let darkness over come me.
There stands all my friends, family, Eric, and four. "Shoot them" says a voice, I look at the gun in my hand. "I can't do it" "just shoot them" the voice replies. I go up to my dad and shoot him and my mom. They were never good parents anyways. I go up to my friends, god this is hard. I turn around and shoot. I am now left with four and Eric. "One dies and one survives choose" the voice says again, I should do this for four I turn and shoot Eric.
I jump up from the seat. I am breathing really heavy and tears are about to fall. Four shuts off the computer and comes and gives me a hug. "Shhh it's ok" I bury my head in his chest. "Thanks for that by the way" he says when I was about to leave "for what?" "Saving me in the sim" "yea no problem" "wait" I turn back around "remember capture the flag is tonight get a good rest we wake you up at 2" "ugggg" he chuckles and I turn to leave. Eric stands up when he sees me and takes my hand in his and leads me to his apartment.
Once we are in I kick my shoes off and plop on his couch. He comes over and sits down next to me. "Those fear thing are tiring" "you have so it five more times." I frown.
I wake up to Eric getting ready. "Capture the flag" "ugh". We walk out of his room and get on the trains. "We are going to be playing capture the flag with these" four drops a bag of guns on the floor. "Neuro stim dart, pain of a real gun shot, only lasts a couple minutes" "those don't hurt" someone says, Eric picks up a gun and shots him in the leg. He falls to the ground in pain. "Four you pick first" Eric says, he scans the crowd and his eyes land on mine. "Storm" I walk over to him and look at Eric, his eyes are full of rage. "Jordan" he finally says.
Once everyone has a team, our team gets off first. "Think of a plan" four says. While everyone is throwing ideas at each other I go and climb the Farris wheel. "You're not going to jump are you" a voice says behind me, I know it's four so I don't turn around. "No I'm getting a good advantage point" , he follows me up, I get to the next rung and it breaks but luckily four grabs my waist before I could fall.
I reach the top and I see there flag. "Four look" I say but don't get an answer. I look down and see four still climbing "are you afraid of highs?" "Everyone afraid of something." "I thought you were fearless" he chuckles and climbs and sits next to me.
"What's your plan?" Four ask when we get to the group "we split up into three groups, the left group and the middle group will attack while the right side gets the flag."
I'm on the right side with four and this girl named Ellie. We run until we get to the building that the flag is in "you guys go" four says. Me and Ellie run up the stairs "go I'll cover" i quietly walk up and get the flag. I wave it to my team that is cheering Ellie comes and holds it with me, we are both smiling. "Can we be friends?" She asks when we are walking down to our team, "yes sure" I reply throwing my arm over her shoulder.
The walk back is silent. "Hey!! Do you want to go zipplinning!" Uriah ask me, "yea of course" I reply. We storm up the stairs of the Hancock building. Zeke and Uriah put the harness on and I get in. People are cheering, I fly down the zip line, this is so much fun. I pull the break when I hit the bottom and jump out of the harness. This was by far the best night ever.
