It was an early Saturday morning. Never even had my coffee yet. There was a knock on my door. Who the hell let this person into the complex? I need to file a complaint later, coz i have been telling management from the very beginning to never let anyone in at this hour of day looking for me.

There it was again, a loud knock on my glass door. I had it changed when i moved in, even if it cost me a lot. I am so particular with things, especially doors. I have the thing for glass doors. But to be on the safe side, i preordered the fiber glass, the way i wanted it designed however expensive it was. Even my brother, who's earning more than i am, thought it was too impractical for me.

A third knock, and louder this time than the last. What an impatient prick!

Whoever this might be must better give me the best reason why i will not bite his head off.

I planned on staying in bed until i had my fill of a lazy Saturday, my first in the last six months. Work had been hell for me with so many things to finish and always beating deadlines added to talking with difficult clients. Being one of the executives of the top advertising company in the country was really never my choice, but it was the only job at the beginning of my career that offerred me a high-scaled salary plus the fringe benefits, like this free luxurious condo and the latest bmw model that befits executives for this company. Don't get me wrong, i worked my butt to get to where i was now.

That's why, this intruder will never hear the end of it once i get to him. He interrupted the most pleasurable thing that i had experienced for a long time, sleeping in my own bed for more than six hours.

Three fast and loud as hell knocks followed. Why can't this ungracious visitor use the doorbell like the rest of the normal people? The doorbell was there for a reason.

"Hold your horses! I'm coming!" i can't resist shouting at the person on the other side of that glass door. My mind was now working in its full capacity to think of people who might be visiting me this early Saturday morning.

I quickly put on my favorite purple cotton robe and walked towards the door in my funny flurry slippers, they had sponge bob faces all over them. So much for sophistication.

The loud knocks again, this time in quick successions, never stopping. I could see a silhoutte of a man in jeans and long coat standing outside my door.

"All right! all right! i got it... please stop knocking already." i finally got to the door but i still need to unbolt four door locks and unchain two more locks. One needs to be extra careful these days, with all the robberies and home invasions in the news.

I was obviously seething with anger now as i opened the door, opening it too wide than my usual a foot long width, just enough for my face to peer in outside. Call me paranoid, but again, one can never be too careful these days.

To much of my surprise, there was no one standing out here outside my door, nor a trace of a presence being here these past couple of minutes. I had this floor all to myself, the penthouse suite as they call it, but i still call it a condo, since i cannot tell the difference.

I walked a few steps towards the elevator, but again, there was no one there. The elevator was still on my floor, like nobody had used it yet. Honestly, i think i am the only one who uses the elevator so early in the mornings. Most of the tenants here go to work much later than i do, so much more on weekends, where most of them don't go to work at all.

"Hello? Anybody there?" i tried calling out even though i may look stupid calling out to an empty space.

Dead silence all over my floor. All i could hear was my heart beating oddly now. I don't believe in scary stuffs like ghosts and monsters but the air right now smelled creepy to me.

I tried consoling myself a little bit by telling my logical self that somebody from below me must be pulling some kind of prank. That must be it, someone who just got nothing better to do than by causing distress to busy and hardworking people like me.

Reason, now returning to my senses, had me angrily shut the door and went straight to the phone. I dialled in for the lobby. I need to talk to the guard on duty.

I was waiting for my call to get through when i heard a loud crash in my room.

I literally jumped out of fright and surprise. Someone broke into my place.

I quickly and quietly went to the kitchen and got me the biggest knife that i could get a hold on to. I then walked towards my room, slowly and surely, listening for changes in the noises that i am hearing inside my bedroom. It was like things were moved inside, coz i hear the closets banging, tables crashing loud even on my carpeted floor, and then a very loud shout came after. Though i can't understand the words, but the shout was really sharp and very loud.

With the knife on my right hand and the phone on the other hand, i moved slowly towards my bedroom. The phone was still ringing, and then i heard it click.

"Hello! Good morning Ms. Chan. what can i do for you?" said the voice on the receiver.

"please help me... someone is inside my room... please hurry..." i whispered back on the phone, my hands now shaking so much while holding on to the phone with a tight grip.

"hurry please..." i told him again.

"alright Ms.chan, i'm on my way now... please stay calm and wait for me outside your place, call the police.." he instructed me and i heard his line click off.

after that loud shout, the bedroom got quiet again. As much as i want to get inside to check, logic still dictated me to wait for the guard outside my place. I turned around and ran as fast as i could to my door, opened it, got out and closed it again behind me as quietly as i could. I don't want the intruder to notice where I am.

Shaking with fear, i waited for the guard by the elevator, while looking at my door from time to time, never letting my guard down if ever the intruder will come out of my room.

I heard the elevator ding, and John, the night guard, came into view.

"are you ok Ms.Chan? did you call the police? is the intruder still inside?" he quickly asked me.

"i think he's still there, i ran quickly here waiting for you so i never got to call the police." i told him in my most calm voice, although i'm shaking like a leaf all over.

"it's alright ms.chan. stay here, while i go check inside your place." he took his gun from his side belt and went slowly inside the my place.

i know he's calling out to the intruder, letting the intruder know that he has a gun and that the police are on their way.

i was standing by the elevator, waiting for anything to happen. My right hand still holding the big knife and the other hand holding the phone.

i dialled for the police as fast as i can.

"Police Precinct #7, what's your emergency?" the lady on the phone was asking.

"please send help, intruder at my place." my voice was shaking.

"may i know your address mam? and please calm down, the nearest patrol will be on your way as quickly as you tell me your address. how many are you in the house?"

"just me... I'm at the Olympus, penthouse suite."

"are you hurt mam?" she's still asking.

"no... i don't know what's going on ... the guard on duty is inside my bedroom now."

"alright, mam, stay calm, the police are on their way, please do not enter your premises again until the police are there. are you safe?"

"i believe so..." i told her.

i could hear the sirens outside the building. That must be the police.

Thank God they are here.

I am still waiting patiently by the elevator, hands holding on to the knife and phone.
