                                                       Sleepless night

In this world, he was the overarching authority, he was the eternal king. No other had this right, it was him and him alone. Kevan would share power with no-one, His council, his worthless advisors would forever bring up the one thing that believed he lacked an heir, not that he needed one in his opinion and that was the only one that mattered.

In order to have an heir, this would mean finding a suitable candidate to be his bride. It presents too many variables, too many options for him to consider at this moment in time. He would consider to shrug off this if and when, because it would come up the next time he met with those persistent men that he had unwisely chosen to sit upon his council.

Normally his nights were full of pleasure, tumbling in the sheets with the concubine he had chosen to join him which was swiftly followed by slumber, it was never heavy as you never know who might try and foolhardy and laughable attempt at assassinating him whilst he slept in his own bed, surrounded by his chosen concubine for the night.

Not in this lifetime had he experienced this kind of unease, not since, no he dared not to even give that particular memory another second. It had been a different lifetime, he was back where he belonged on top of the world, with the world cowering at his feet.

Now the simple pleasure of sleep was beyond his grasp, this was unacceptable! He was King and Kings were not so easily shaken in time such as this one. However at the same time, he was so much more than a simple ruler seated upon his throne but the weaklings, his pawns did not need to know this truth, they did not need to know what lay beneath the king's mantle.

His mind had been reeling, chewing over what little he knew since that one moment, the moment where his world spun on its head, figuratively at least. His mortal enemies, that constant thorn his side had re-emerged. A new generation, unknown fresh from their ascension.

He and their chosen handler were aware of the existence of those singularly frustrating pests. It had been nothing but peace for the last hundred years since his own rebirth. It had been nothing short of perfection. The world had been in the palm of his hand and with the initial rebellion which he had quickly crushed.

No other had arisen, they were too petrified to consider banding together and rising up as a unified force against him because as soon as one arose, it was maliciously ripped apart before they could mounting an assault against his stronghold.

Seated upon his throne, with his fingers drumming on the arm. Kevan contemplated his next move. For now his enemy was an unknown, a faceless foe moving in the darkness that surrounded their very identify from his sight. They were not the same, this was different generation than the previous ones. He quickly realised what he had been handed. This was an advantage for him, as much as it was a disadvantage at the same time.

They would be completely unaware of this tricks and mind games unlike their predecessors. This might work in his favour when they finally met face to face. He would have to play his hand carefully, bide his time and use the coming weeks to his advantage until the handler made themselves known of course.

His other advantage was his own seat of power, his throne. He was king, he was untouchable. Always protected, surrounded by the various members of his guard but he could not be arrogant, not when they could easily be anywhere within his own court. He must his eyes sharp, alert to any changes no matter how minor. Watch everyone like a hawk, always be suspicious of those he surrounded himself with now more than ever.

With a hallowed, empty throne room. It was a perfect place to plot and plan without any interlopers for the coming days ahead. For now he needed no-one as they would just get in the way and end up as cannon fodder, just his own thoughts. Nothing else mattered, others were flawed unlike himself. He was a Dark God who stood on high above all others. Kevan coldly smirked. They would not win this time for he would make sure that his darkness would prevail.

Good would find itself defeated, much like he had been all times before, in all those lifetimes that came before.
