Halcyon Days

A lot of people are now thinking about the past
As we are drowning in darkness ever so vast
A rush of personal memories swirl around in my mind
As I continue to reflect on what I left behind
We only have one life but we have more than one chance
Every step forward we continue to advance
Even though we fight these wars from people who block
Our way to the true path of the light that we do walk
I seem to ponder these thoughts as my maturity still grows
I no longer wonder what place I will eventually go
We long for simpler times that had none of this mess
None of this complexity and none of this distress
My words are from the heart, they are fully made human
Maybe I can piece together the small details if I zoom in
Illusions and delusions continue to deceive our sights
The devil wants to rid the very fabric that binds us to these delights
We indulge in mediocrity from these machines that degrade
What little soul we have left that were the things that made
Our very being that is the essence of our deep souls
The moment we lose that part is when we give up our whole
That is the point where our first death is marked
Before our very existence will cease and our end is harked
What truly connects the mind and body that we control
Is the gap that bridges those together, our very soul
This is why people are so fed up with these recent trends
That only do nothing but to be a waste of our spends
It only steals, it only hides, it only lurks in the shadows
Making us question whether if the lies are true as they lay low
You do not need to ask what I am referring or alluding to
We all know at this point and to be honest it’s a sign of gloom
This makes me look back on all of my writings that I have made
As my thoughts were organized from that twister of a cascade
I have been writing for a decade, ever since that very light
This has helped me get through the worst years of my life
Each day this threat looms closer to reality that will consume
I keep overthinking and obsessing on how we are doomed
But I try to keep my hopes up amidst our chaos and disgrace
We will keep it real, and we will always, no matter what place
As someone who loves to write, I will not fall for their schemes
That make me no longer type the very words from these seams
That is the very mechination of my mind and all it entails
The mystery that is our psyche is one full of trails
Where do they lead? How do we dream in our sleep?
Maybe it is a film playback of the mind from what it sees
So is it a sentient being that has its own conscience,
Or is it the very part that makes up our body in science?
This right here is much better than steel or an empty shell
Of what we call artificial that pretends to know us well
These worries make me reminisce on those Halcyon Days
As I dream of those bright blue skies and the warm sun’s glowing rays
I reminisce on figuring life out in each day I spend
Maybe the knowledge I have attained has been a curse with no end
Despite me being so depressed and mentally disturbed
As my well-being was at its worst, the point of no return
My sadness was heavy as I was lost and confused
I searched for friends and happiness but I would repeatedly lose
Now that I am happy and now that enough time has passed
My wisdom has grown and I have learned enough in class
To calm my mind and at least pretend that today is good
I stand where I stand, and I once stood where I stood
In those years I was neither here nor there
I entered a crossroads, and I could not know where
My identity was nought as I didn’t know who I was
So I continued to find that, and figured my reason, my cause
But now it’s no longer a journey to discover why we are here
As this crisis looms and rapidly spreads as we fear
I often wonder what my life would’ve been like
If I just fell off and slammed, like I was riding a bike
If I truly gave up and no longer wished to be alive
Such a sad, abrupt ending would never happen in this life
But time has advanced and it grows ever more worse
As we witness the downward spiral that is this very curse
Perhaps this is the wake up call that will make us realize
That when we lose something precious, that is the reason we’re alive
That what we have is another step towards what we yearn for
And that very thing is our life blood that resides deep in our core
As I walk in the silence of places where I used to visit,
I see the ghosts of memories dead in the vision I inhibit
I am reminded of what it was like to be in that era of truth
That I once knew to be the very place of my youth
So when things change, and when things evolve
The very existence I once knew is no longer involved
It is somber, full of melancholy, a time that grows distant
A very time that evaporates with each day spent
We wake up, we move on with our lives, and so much repeats
Even if things change, and even if we’re in the rhythm of these beats
The things we held dear as a family that we at one point cherished
At some point those memories have gone and went, they perished
I often dissociate and unreality clouds up my vision
What exactly is even real anymore in the timeline we envisioned?
I realize as I type this that these words are still real
And a robot did not write them, as such a thing cannot feel
I often think I am at a loss, not of words but of emotion
Only desperation fills me as it controls each and every motion
As I witness the very art that made us turn into mud
As our brains decay and the slop consumes in the flood
My mind rattles with resentment as I wish to clean it out
And it devolves into thinking that we should be wiped out
But I reel back my reality and I ground myself in this state
Those evil thoughts will never control my mind, even in haste
To have words written that are completely devoid of meaning
When they are nonsense, with no personality or nuance from our gleaming
They are not noise, nor are they anything at all
They are an empty husk that resides in its code and drawl
So I continue to organize my thoughts as I continue to make sense
Of rejecting where we are at, in favor of a peaceful lens
That we put on to see in that time where we felt free
They say life is short, and kindness has no fee
Maybe if I go outside and walk around for a bit
I will regain what I lost as I recover from that pit
I am now a much calmer, more sensible individual
And if I speak to someone, I will leave a trail of residuals
We are all different, we are a species of color
So why rid the rainbow and drown out all the others?
No matter what happens, what is true will remain
Even if all these days seem to blur and be the same
I once didn’t keep track of time as the weeks went by
Because I didn’t need to as I leaped out to fly
I once held hands, but I no longer am in this nest
And I found my new home, in this hut that I rest
My love of nature reminds me of this pretty place
And I watch the clouds slowly churn in all their slow grace
I wish I was carefree and I would soar up there
To wherever the wind took me, as I glide in the air
But where I land is the most important part of this journey
As I am in an unknown but exciting realm of a great new tourney
When we compete, if one wins then one has to lose
But we learn from all these efforts in our treks that we mov
So I guess the goal is to reach for those things we want
And give to others the things that they also want
Let all these words and ramblings be a message
To always be yourself and real in your expressage
We climb uphill, we fight these uphill battles
But our evolution proves that we still ride on this saddle
There is still so much more to come as we focus on what’s good
And as we combat the very things that rob us of that wood
That foundation that built the very homes we reside in
Never let that joy be taken away, the ones that we delight in
We might still think about what is before, and will more than ever
These revivals prove that what we had will be forever
And yes, what we had was indeed very special
Even if those years are gone and that thought is what we wrestle
Every time a person dies, it is quite a tragedy
The news paints a grim picture that makes us watch this calamity
As ideas influence ideology that spreads like a plague
And all the hate that comes from idiocy and what's only vague
To know and understand what is clear and what is correct
Will always kill what is wrong and what is factually object
To the very fundemental laws of this very real world we inhabit
Even though those things continue to distort and warp our habits
In the end, it is seen that such dark forces will collapse
As the brightness of the enlightened will prevail and lapse
To truly conclude this massive text of a poem I present,
Never let your words falter and never let them get bent
We stand firm, we stand true, and we shine our brightness
We always paint a picture that stands in front of our highness
Let us be a friend, let us lend a helping hand
As that chain continues and our genuine love will soon land
We fight, we fight, and we will never stop our fight
And I am with you all the way, and I will support what is right
May these days be another moment of clarity in this life of sorrow,
So that we may have those brighter days that we dream of tomorrow...
