I woke up to the sound of rain. I took a breath of comfort. Rainy weather was my favourite weather. The pitter patter of the rain drops were so sensual. I walked out of my room and walked to the living room of my condo.

I heard a barking. It was Beast, my Maltese. He was absolutely adorable. I loved him.

"Hi, Beast." I said. He just barked back.

I went over to the balcony door and opened it. I know. It's raining and now I'm going outside, but rain is amazing.

I sat on the chair I have there. Beast followed and sat tried climbing to get in my lap. I shook my head and grabbed him setting him on my lap. I started stroking his fur lightly.

I felt the rain gently splashing on me. I sadly looked at it. I looked over the beautiful city I live in. Toronto. I moved here a year after finishing university. And a year after losing him. Our finished story.

I graduated high school a year early and attended university at the age of 17. I graduated university at 21. I met him when I was in 2 year university and working part time at Sierra's, my best friend's, company.

I started a clothing line when I started university. With some help from my brother, much unwanted but he said he owed me, I got to pair up with Nike. My very famous brother, David Luiz. I helped them create new designs. I majored in business in university and here I am. Managing the design headquarters of Nike in Toronto.

During university I worked part time at Nike with my best friend Sierra who was taking over as CEO.

I closed my eyes and took a breath. I heard the phone ringing. I got up and went back inside to pick it up.

"Hello?"

"Leah! How are you, princesa?" I smiled softly. It was David.

"David! I'm okay, how are you?" I asked.

"Good. I'm good. I was just heading for practise. I wanted to hear your voice before I left." He said.

I rolled my eyes. "Is it your turn to be on Leah duty?" I asked.

"Princesa, you know that's not how it is."

"Oh but it is. David. Tell mãe and pai that I'm fine. I'm not dead yet." I said dismissively.

"Ser quieto! Nunca fale assim!" [Be quiet! Never talk like that] He scolded. "We all care about you very much and-"

"You don't want me to die. Cool. I get it. What I did was stupid and I promise it will never happen again. Ever. David, what no one understands is that I am okay. I don't need these weekly check ups. I'm 21. I can manage." I said frustratedly.

"Meu princesa, I understand. But we just care. We love you." He explained. "It's just natural for us to care while I live in Paris, they live in Brazil and you live in Canada. And now I'm in Brazil. And you're not. So what I'm going at here is you're coming down in two weeks anyways, just come a week early and they'll back off a bit."

I snorted.

"Okay that's not guaranteed. But you can live with me in my house so you won't be hounded as much." He said.

"I have work."

"Oh I'm sure they'll let you come to Brazil for the biggest event that comes one every four years." He said slyly.

"Beast needs-"

"I can't believe you're using the dog as an excuse." He scoffed.
