ISA POV
It one of those days when you just don't want to leave your bed. You just lay there, doing nothing. It seems so comfortable, and warm, and peaceful...
Then I hear the ships coming into the port, and those loud, annoying bells. They remind me of roosters, the way they wake everyone up so early in the morning... In the most unpleasant way. My sleep is no longer peaceful, it's torment. I get up and proceed to get ready to be bombarded by boys from other Kingdoms. I helped pick them, but it's still useless. I already love someone.
I hop out of bed, and 20 minutes later, I'm ready to take on this hideously boring, but maybe fun day.
-----
I'm wearing a light pink, sparkly dress, that is really pouffy. I know that's a weird word, but it describes it perfectly.
Pouffy. Yep, my dress is pouffy.
When I sit down in the hand crafted mahogany chair with a fancy cushion that has flowers on it, it poofs up and I have to push it down. I love it.
Then my mom comes into the little room with me. It really isn't that small, but it's small for three people at once. Then again, this is where I held my prank team meeting, so it's not that bad. The walls are dark wood, and there is a window looking out onto the water, so we can see most of the town, too. There's even a little window seat, will pillows and a blanket. The sun lights up the place, so there's no need for an artificial light, but there are a few candles. There is a little round table, with a white lace tablecloth, and a fall coloured, knitted rug underneath. It really is quite cozy, and it's usually where I go to read or study. But, today, they're all going to come in here, the princes, and we're basically going to talk and get to know each other. I'd prefer to to actually, normally get to know them, but I'm told this is professional and is a custom of the royal ladies of Arendelle. It because of some guy named... Who was it?
Hans, that's it. No one talks about him much, but Anna's face turns the red it gets when she's angry whenever we do. She gets, like, really mad. So... I'm pretty sure he was bad.
"Hey Isa," Mom says, sitting down next to me. "Isn't this exiting?" She smiles. "Meeting your prince!"
I play along, because I don't want to disappoint her with the truth. But, strangely, she seems to be hiding something from me, too. "Ya," I say, smiling. "It's going to be exiting!" We both exchange laughs, and then she reminds me of being a 'proper lady' and whatnot. I listen, but think more of the interesting conversation I'm going to have later, before I go to sleep.
A servant comes in, interrupting Mom's lecture about which fork to use when eating desert, and to always place your pinky under your cup before you put it on the table, for a cushion.
"Sorry, Queen Elsa, but they are ready." Mom straightens her posture, and puts on her cool, Queen face. I try to do the same, but I can't help notice a mysterious shadow in the corner, just for a moment, before it rushes away, never to be seen again.
"So are we," she responds, glancing at me, and smirking. The servant nods politely, and leaves to go get the first boy. I think there are 5 in total. I get an hour with each. It's will be close to 5:00 pm when we're done.
"Remember," she whispers to me, her eyes not leaving the door. "You are beautiful." I smile, and feel confident as Derek enters the room, I a friendly way.
-------
He really is quite interesting, I've learned. He's from a the Northern Mountains of the Neverland's, in a nice Kingdom that's good for trading sheep and precious gems since they live near mountains, of course. He's really polite, but I think it's just a result of a royal upbringing, because otherwise he'd be just a normal, but genuine kind person. Not a raised-to
-be-a-royal kind of guy. And I have nothing against that. His eyes are bright, vibrant blue, and is hair is very dark brown, and rather short. His skin is tan, and he's wearing a white suit with golden trim. He seems like a pretty decent guy, but he's just not for me. In the end, I said goodbye, and Mom mentioned that we'd consider trading with him in the near future. He left and kissed my hand, and that was it. Not as bad as I thought, but I feel sort of weird. All of this is sort if pointless.
The second was named Philip. He's from London, England, and is distantly related to the recently coronated Queen Elizabeth. Mom was particularly interested in this, I noted, but I informed her earlier that I wanted to marry for love, not wealth, so she didn't say anything. He was blonde, with green eyes, and slightly tanned skin, but not really. He's more on the pale side. He's wearing a light blue suit, with a red tie. Quite a strange combination, I thought, but I didn't mention it. He really is quite handsome, though. I decided to pass.
Third was David. He's Canadian, and absolutely adorable. He complimented us both when he came in, and said how much he loved this place. Both me and Mom fell for him, he's just so great. He's from Alberta, so his Kingdom is rich with oil, and tress, of course. They also have some precious ore there. Their family has a pet dog named Jerry, too. He's a German Shepard, and he seems like a sweetie. He plays guitar, I found out. David does, not the dog. His favourite animal is a horse, and he enjoys fishing. As a joke, I asked him if he lived in a snow castle or an igloo, and he laughed and said no. Even if he did, I wouldn't find it weird. Elsa has an ice palace.
He doesn't seem fake like the others, ether. He's genuine, inside and out, truly an amazing person, I find. His has light, long-ish brown hair, and his eyes are dark brown, like I'm staring into the night sky... It reminds me of someone. His skin is kind of pale, but not really. I wouldn't go as far to say it's pale. He's wearing a dark red suit, with golden and brown trim, and a black tie. I can't help it, it makes me think of fancy flannel. But, I love it. I love everything about him. In fact, I was quite sad when the hour had ended, so I decided to keep in contact with him. Even if I can't 'see' him at this point, I'd still like to remain friends. He makes me laugh. Mom agreed to this, too, but I didn't tell her the whole Black Frost bit. She likes that he makes me smile, though. Even the servants seem compelled to him. Canadians, eh?
Next was the dreaded Luke. I had no idea he was going to be like this, really. He's quite snobby. He's from Russia, I've learned, and he just thinks he's the finest thing in the world. As far as I'm concerned, his parents have given him everything, and he hasn't worked for anything himself, but he thinks he has. He doesn't even know the benefits of his own kingdom! Ugh, he's just a royal pain. He has green eyes, and he's ginger, with sideburns the size of a ship. His suit is mostly white, with a bit of blue and gold. I really don't want to get to know him much, and nether does Mom, so our hour was cut short, due to Mom and me not being able to stand his presence anymore, for countless reasons. Thank goodness.
Last was Nathan. Oh, pour Nathan. He seems to fumble and trip over everything. He's from Asia, and his family is quite wealthy. His Kingdom is good for building supplies, and for some reason, fish. He has short black hair, really dark brown eyes that shine a lot, and a nice smile. His skin is quite tan, as well. He's wearing a traditional black and white suit, with a blue handkerchief in the top pocket, due to... Family reasons, I suppose. He wants to be respectful. Anyways, he really is a sweetie, and I feel bad turning him down. But, even though I wasn't supposed to, I've picked a favourite.
--
After all of that was done, I'd asked if David could stay a bit longer so we could walk around town, and it turns out they needed to stay longer for ship repairs anyways! It's like fate. But, I can't let myself get wrapped up in it too much. I like someone else, I have to remember. We're just friends, me and David.
Me and him spent the day out on the town. We looked at everything from children playing in the park, to weird ornaments made of glass in little shops. But, we mostly talked. I learned even more about him. His favourite colour is orange, and his favourite song to play on the guitar is one he wrote about a river, that eventually gets destroyed by time, but birds still go there to sing their songs. He says it's about two opposite people, who find their way into friendship, but it's more of a metaphor. I don't really get it, but I act like I do. It actually sounds like a really nice song.
His mom's name is Eleanor, and his dad's name is William. Unfortunately, they couldn't make it on the trip because someone had to hold down their Kingdom. He's an only child, this topic led to somehow. His best friend is named John, and he's from England, but he moved to Canada at a young age. He's kind of like David's brother, since they've known each other for so long. When they were little, they played games where David was a spaceman, and John was a human that he always met and had a lot of similarities with. Why did they do this? The answer has not been found, but we both assume it was because they were little and wanted to play a game. We've agreed on this.
I now know that he also like reading, like me. He enjoys adventure books, and we've exchanged favourites, and have agreed to read them, and he mine. All in all, we had a pretty good day together. And, I've learned, he doesn't just make me happy, he makes me feel normal. The kind of normal I've always wanted to be.
We sat by the water, as we watched the sun set, casting oranges, reds, and yellows along the ocean's waves. That's when it hit me.
The sun was setting. Black would be here soon. I had to get back to the castle, in my room, now.
I got up instantly and started running. Of course, he followed me.
"Were are you going?" He questioned, keeping up with me.
"Um," I said, trying to come up with an excuse. "I have this curfew, and it's way past it now..." I failed.
Miserably.
"No that's not it," he said, stopping me. "You would have mentioned that at the beginning, if that was the case," he said. How has he decided this? "You're not that careless," he says. Mind reading! How did he do that? Mind reader! What?
"Okay, you're right," I said. "But I promise it's not random. I like you, but," his eyes light up, and he started to smile. "There's this person... And they're dangerous. Even talking now, I don't know if they're listening, it's already too late."
"So why do you have to run away now?" He asked. "Did your fairy godmother cast a spell of enchantment that ends when the sun sets?" He jokes.
I laugh. "No, but this is serious. This person isn't a fairy godmother. Basically the opposite. He only appears at night."
"He?" David seems wounded. "What do you mean?" He asks, now starting to get concerned.
"Look," I say, heart broken, and running out of time. My eyes dart to the setting sun, them back to him. "It's complicated, and I don't have a lot of time right now. I'm just trying to protect you." Oh no, I sound like Mom. Like, I really sound like Mom.
"He's bothering you? Let me handle it," he insists.
"No!" I say urgently. "It's not the kind of thing you, or anyone, can stop. I can explain..." I look at the almost gone sun, now barely visible against the dark water. "Tomorrow, if you stay? And promise to keep it a secret? It's kind of a family thing. Please, I need to go. Tomorrow?" I ask.
He seems perplexed, but worried at the same time, and he stares into my eyes. "Okay," he finally says, and kisses me on the cheek.
My thoughts go into mayhem. Oh, I wish I was normal so I could enjoy this, but I already love someone else. But now do I wish that I didn't? This is all so complicated, and there is no time left. I make eye contact with David, then I turn my head towards the sunset, just in time to see that it's now gone. When I look back, I'm in my room, staring into the cold, dark eyes of Black Frost.
----
And that's where I'll end it! Haha! Lol. Anyways, this one I like. There are camios that some doctor who fans will get, and some of my friends in real life will get. Anyways...
