CHAPTER 1
Aphrodite
(Aphrodite)
"Listen up, little ones! Jamie here has an announcement. Go ahead!"
I gestured kneeling down to the small five-year-olds height and give him a little push encouraging him to make his announcement. I watched him blush a little before speaking, "Welp! My birthday is on Saturday and everyone's invited!" He cheered happily earning a cheer from the rest of the class. Jamie grinned as he handed out each of his invitations to his classmates.
"Spiderman!" Carlos, another one of my students cried in excitement upon receiving his invite. I laughed and watched happily as everyone began to talk about his party and all the cake and ice cream they were going to receive. It warmed my heart to see all these innocent faces every day. It made me wish that I had a child of my own. I knew that I was in no rush. I was only 25, so it wasn't like my time was ticking. Plus I haven't really found the one. Well, I did but that was just a distant memory that I longed for deep down. Everyone who knows of my still existing love for this man has told me to forget him, but it's hard to forget your first love. I have tried to get over it, but it just won't stop!
I felt a tug on my pants leg that brought me out of thoughts. I looked down to see Jamie's big hazel brown eyes looking up at me with a cute, shy smile upon his face showcasing his left cheek dimple. I smiled and opened my mouth "yes baby?" I asked noticing his left hand was behind his back. I gazed at him confused but shrugged. He used his free hand to gesture for me to squat down to his level. I complied and shrunk down to his height.
"U-uh Miss Sam, my mommy said I could invite all my friends..." he trailed off as his left hand come from behind his back revealing cardboard cutout of a cupcake. It had pink frosting and colorful buttons and gems for decorations with Miss Sam printed on the body of the cupcake. "Mommy helped me make this for you. Will you please come to my party miss Sam?" He asked cutely in a nervous tone. Well, who could say no to a face like that?
"Ah thank you munchkin! I would love to come to your party. I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world." I happily took the invitation from him, giving him a huge hug with a smile.
"Miss Sam is coming to my party!" He screamed bashfully before he ran off to join the others in their discussions about his party as they colored a bit.
I loved teaching little kids. I use to take early childhood development back when I was in high school for dual enrollment. I was already DCF certified to work with kids so I decided to major in child Psychology so I could be able to understand my children a bit more when it comes to problems they might have and such. I felt so much pride and joy in the fact that I could help enrich the youth who may someday enrich our society once they are older.
I sighed happily. I love my job.
