Chapter 1: memories

It was yet another simple day. You were busy making breakfast as Levi made his way down the stairs to grab a cup of his favorite tea. You knew exactly how he liked it, and it always made you warm up inside at the sight of his enjoyment. The corners of his lips would lift and his eyes flutter shut with such grace that it was as if you were watching in slow motion.

No doubt you loved Levi. More than anything.

He straightened up his tie as he looked over at you, "I'm off." he grabbed a hold of his suit case.

"You don't want to eat anything before you go?" your face gave off a look of disappointment. You always slaved to make breakfast, hoping he'd want to spend at least a few minutes together before he left for work, but no. He's always been rather lax when it came to his diet.

"I'm already running late, [name]." he sighed with a soft smile. He always won you over whenever he did that. You couldn't help but forgive him. He walked over to you as he pecked your lips, "I'll be home for dinner."

He turned to leave as he made his way to the door. You smiled brightly, "ok, I love you!"

"Love you too."

And you really thought he did love you. You honestly thought he did.

Months had passed by as the seasons began to change. It was finally fall, And You were layering up as you planned to meet up with Levi for your anniversary. It had been 3 years since you two had gotten married, and you couldn't of been happier. You smiled happily as you applied some last minute touches to your face until you were disturbed by your phone vibrating.

Incoming call. . .Levi

You clicked the green icon, "Hey! I'm ready to-"

"I can't make it."

You felt your mood take a dive into oblivion.

"What?"

"Things are really busy at work, and I can't stop now. I know it's our anniversary-"

"Ya...I thought we had plans for something special."

"Yes- but- I'm busy. I'll make it up to you, [name]. But I gotta go. Love you, bye." and with that, the line went dead.

You slowly placed the phone down against the countertop. Your gaze made its way to your freshly dolled up face. It wasn't anything crazy, but you never put that much effort into your make up unless it was something special. Especially for your anniversary. But to levi, work was more important. Which seemed to be the case lately. He always came home late from his job or on his days off he would tell you he was too busy with errands he needed to run. He never made special time for you. It was almost like you were a burden to him.

The thought made your heart sink. You couldn't fathom the thought of Levi throwing you away as if you were nothing. But he wouldn't do that, would he? The endless upon endless possibilities swirled around in that head of yours. The most common one being he was cheating on you. But he wouldn't do that to you!

"Levi, why are you working so much now? I miss you..."

"[name], I'm working to get more money for us. Don't you want to move in soon? I'm trying to get the promotion so I can provide for us both-"

"I have a job too! I can help provide. That's what we're supposed to-"

"But I don't want you working. I dont like it. What about all the guys that look at you? And if I'm at work I can't protect you!" he voice seemed a bit agitated, "so when you move in. You're quitting your job."
