You glared as you saw the pair of brown eyes shielded by her glasses, "What the hell do you want, Hanji?"

She was squeamish under your gaze, "Merry Christmas, [Name]." she scratched the back of her head.

"Ya, quite a merry Christmas." You looked down at your feet before meeting her gaze again with a bored look, "Thanks for ignoring me, by the way."

"I had good reason to."

"It's been about three months since we last talked! You've been avoiding me ever since I asked you to god damn spy on the shady bastard!" You scoffed turning away as you walked towards the kitchen.

She followed you in, shutting the door quietly behind her. She didn't say anything, as she looked around at all the decorations you had put out. Watching her scope out the room made you want to do the same. You marveled at your work; you had really out done yourself this year.

If only he could have appreciated it.

Hanji took a seat at the nearby stool eyeing the pot of warming water. You took the hint, and grabbed her a mug. Filling it with hot cocoa. You handed her the mug, "Well," you grabbed the pot of tea and dumped it into the sink, "What's the news?"

No response.

"Hanji...just tell me." You could see the distress in her eyes at the thought. You knew she wanted to protect you, but you needed to know. No matter how much it killed you. The very fact that Levi was sneaking around with another woman was eating you alive, but for him to live as if you didn't know made it even worse.

"[Name] I-"

"Just fucking tell me!"

Hanji sighed deeply as she pulled out her brief case. She unclasped the bag; pulling out a series of papers which on them had pictures. The first few pages were text messages. Ones Levi had sent to Petra and vice versa. There were even a few nudes thrown in there. You could tell that Hanji was waiting for a serious break out from you, but you never gave any. Your body was numb. You flipped through the pages; staring blankly as if unfazed by the whole thing.

"This is it?"

Hanji was a bit taken back by your response. You looked at her in disbelief that this was all the lying bastard had done. He was for sure fucking her, but was he open about it at work too? Did anyone ever say anything to the damn bastard for what he was doing? By the looks of things no one ever said anything.

"No...I've caught them a few times." Hanji pushed her glasses up while avoiding your gaze, "Anyone could tell there was something between them. They always stared at each other, and talked in secret. Sometimes I'd walk in on them and pretend I wasn't on to their little façade."

You took the stool next to her and stared down into your cup.

"I know you and Petra are best friends-"

"Were." You took a small sip, "We were best friends, but I can never be friends with a seducing whore."

You stood up and made your way towards the glowing fire. It crackled and popped as you watched. The flames engulfed the bark in its searing heat as if the fire itself had some threatening hate. Or perhaps love... You didn't know how to feel about the whole thing. You were still shocked by the situation you were in, and you had spent many nights crying previously to tonight.

You looked over at Hanji for a moment, "Why would she do this to me? Why?" your eyes darted to the picture frame that stood alone on the small coffee table. "We're supposed to have each other's backs."
