It's Friday night, and it's 7:30. I had my mom straighten my hair, while we were here listening to the radio. While the radio went to commercial break, my mom wanted to know what was going on with me and Ice Cube. I can tell she wanted to know about us, because she was here smiling and when a love song was playing, she emphasizes all the words, trying to make it seem as if what everything in the song was relating to Cube and I. "Well sweetheart, how are you and O'Shea?" She asked, smiling and acting as if she's one of my friends from school. I shake my head and groan, but while I shook my head, my ear got burnt on the hot comb. I wince and roll my eyes. "Uggggg mom, stop. Nothing is going on between me and Shea, I'm serious." She laughs and looks at me. "Elise, while you were telling Dre off, I saw you and Shea, sitting down eating pop tarts and talking. Then, on top of that, y'all were both smiling from ear to ear." I felt a pit in my stomach. It's the feeling of having to listen to my mom tell me everything in the dating world, from seeing a guy all the way to the birds and the bees. "Oh you and O'Shea will be so cute together, and does it seem that I hear wedding bells and doves flying over y'all heads?" "Mom, stop! He and I are just crushing on each other, alright? There's no wedding bells, or doves anywhere." I get up, since I feel that she's done with my hair. While I got up, I put on some heels with a black cocktail dress that has a keyhole(showing off boob cleavage), and put on these gold hoops that mom got me for my birthday. While I walk downstairs, I see Ice Cube right there sitting on the couch waiting for me. He was wearing a Los Angeles Raiders hat, with a black shirt(with a gold chain), jeans and his air force ones. I blushed and started to sweat and I look over at my mom. She's here smiling and giggling, then walks over to Cube with a sandwich on a plate and some grape Kool-Aid to go with it. "Here you go, O'Shea. A grilled cheese just like you wanted." I started to panic, and walked over to them, I mean Cube is gonna see me anyway. While I walk over to talk to mom, I see that he's staring at me, hard. Cube is looking as if he was undressing me with his eyes and that he was ready to fuck, which I feel he was. I tried not to pay him no mind, but he couldn't help himself and neither could I. "Mom, no need to baby Cube because-" "Because I'm gone be her baby, Mrs. Jameson, don't worry." I felt Cube gently touch and rub on my shoulder. Now I see why they call him Ice Cube, not only his rap skills are cold, but his touch is cold too. Of course it's not cold in the sense I'm uncomfortable, it's more of the cold where he has game and he knows how to use it well. Mom laughs and smiles, "Well I see why and how you can be her 'baby'. Now O'Shea, after you and Elise are done hanging out, I want her back here at 11;30, no later than 12, you hear? And if you and her are gonna do extra tonight, let me know." "Oh yes ma'am, I'll have Elise call while we're out." Cube said to my mom, stuffing the sandwich in his mouth, chugging the Kool-Aid down and grabs my hand.
The "date" with Cube wasn't really bad. All he and I did was go out to see a movie, and after the movie we decided to go somewhere to eat, and get dessert and come straight back home. When we got done getting something for dessert, he decided to take me on a ride around Compton, just to show me what his city is like and where to go. While I was listening to him and looking out the window, feeling the wind blow through my hair, I see that he has a N.W.A tape that's hanging out. I rub his thigh and look at him while he stops at the stoplight. "Cube, what does NWA even stand for?" I asked. The light turns green and we continue our drive. "It's an acronym. It stands for 'Niggas With Attitude'. Our boy E decided to make that name up for us, we all liked it and here we are." He smiles and turn up the radio a little. "Well, earlier today when I came over to Dre's house, I heard some of the songs y'all wrote. To be honest with you, y'all niggas got some skill. Seems like every rhyme flows with the words like water. I feel that y'all gonna go far." When I said that, there was a twinkle in Cube's eye when he looked at me. "Elise, quick fucking with me!" He laughs and shakes his head. "No, I'm serious. With what you guys are doing, I can tell that y'all gonna make it. Might not be now, but you will...believe me." He holds my hand, locks fingers with me and has his other hand on the wheel, and even though we just met, I feel something between us. It's like my dad will think he's a thug, but it seems like this thug really cares about me after tonight. From us getting to know each other better over dinner, to sharing what we both like, I feel that Cube and I have something going on that only him and I know about, and only us. We stop at an old drive-in movie theater, he turns off the car and I hear crickets, faded police sirens, and Janet Jackson on the radio, talking about "Funny how time flies when you're having fun." I unbuckle my seatbelt, so does he, and I already know where this is going...
