"Who does the old man think he is, making me do servants work with you ." William complains while pushing his way out the door and letting it slam close, forgetting that I am behind him. I quickly hold the door open for myself before it hits me in the face. Jeez for a heir to his family's monopoly, he really doesn't get common courtesy.
I stop as I watch him open the door of his limo and board. "Aren't you going to get in, peasant?" He says sounding unreasonably annoyed.
I raise an eyebrow,"What do you mean? The grocery store is only three blocks away." I catch a glimpse of Bevans sitting in the driver's seat with one hand on the wheel and eyes staring at us through the back view mirror.
"So?" William replies rudely.
I roll my eyes and exhale in frustration as I reach into the limo and pull William out of the car by his arms.
"H-hey what do you think you're doing?!" He shouts with a blush red face, his gaze shifting between me and our hands. He struggles to stay put but with a might heave, I manage to drag him out of the limo.
"Unruly peasant!! How dare you lay a hand on me without permission. I demand that we take the limo!" He crosses his arms across his chest childishly.
"What limo?" I question with a smirk looking over his shoulder.
William turns around and his jaw drops in shock from the absence of his precious limousine. I look to my left and catch the limo turning the corner before disappearing. Good job, Bevans.
Before having to deal with William's complaints, I casually stroll down the block towards the grocery store. As predicted, I soon hear the sound of William running towards me. "Peasant, wait!"
I glance over my shoulder, "Peasant?" I intentionally start walking faster.
"I mean Mae."
I slow down until he catches up with me. He leans over, practically out of breath. "Why would Bevans abandon me like that?" he asks pitifully.
"Maybe so you can learn how to live like a normal person." I suggest and continue walking with William following in pursuit.
"I'm perfectly normal!" he says defensively, "I just happen to be blessed with an unmentionable amount of wealth and dazzling good looks."
I roll my eyes and sigh. I still have no clue as to where he got this huge ego from; it's the size of Antarctica. Suddenly, I stop in my tracks and my eyes widen, pupils glimmering with enthusiasm. In front of me is the cutest, fluffiest, white puppy on the face of the earth. It starts wagging it's tail and pawing my leg. "AWWWWWW." I bend down to get a closer look and discover its adorable tapioca-like eyes, wet nose, and a hanging tongue.
"You can pet him if you want. Pooka loves people." I hear a voice say. I look up to find a sweet old lady staring back at me. I nod in thanks and gently stroke Pooka on his back.
"He's so cute!" I can't help but squeal. His fur is soft and warm and my hands brush against some tangles hidden in the fluff. Pooka leaps up on me and happily licks my face, making me laugh through his wet kisses. Finally he settles down and returns back to his owner's side.
"Well Pooka and I will just be heading to the park." The elderly woman says, while wrapping a knitted scarf over her shoulders, "Maybe we'll bump into each other again. Pooka seems to have taken a liking to you."
"I hope we do. Thanks for letting me pet him." I reply politely, "Do you mind if I take a picture with him before you go?"
"Not at all. " The woman replies warmly, wrinkles forming out of her smile.
