Thanks for your support and patience everyone. I experienced a lot of personal issues after writing the last update and it didn't feel right writing the ending with everything else that was going on. I know I haven't gotten back to writing in a while and I apologize for it. That being said, I have finally gained the will to write again and I am so so appreciative of the continued support you guys have given me. I read every single comment you guys write and a lot of them make me laugh until my lungs burn. I love you guys and I hope you enjoy the final chapters of Reverse Harem Cafe.- AwkNaut
"Hha-haha I WON I ACTUALLY WON??"
Max can barely contain himself but says no more and turns to look at me, eyes gleaming.
"Okay, you can gloat. But this is the last win you'll get." I say with a smirk even though I can't help but smile at how cute Max looks when he's excited. His face lights up like fireworks.
"WOOHOOO I KICKED YOUR BUTT IN STREET FIGHTER YEAHHH BOIIII." He throws a punch in the air before jumping into a victory dance.
"Yeah boi one more time and I'm out of here." I warn. "Jacob's been a really bad influence on you."
Max stops mid dab and shrugs, "He's good at games though."
Max, determined to beat me at Street Fighter had been practicing day and night to master the moves and tricks of the game. When he was at the arcade with Jacob once, Jacob pointed out that he actually had 3 spots in the Top 10 scores on the leaderboard and after that Max had become his arcade gaming disciple. While Max did improve his gaming tactics, he also picked up a lot of Jacob's stupid mannerisms. The whole thought of it is kind of hilarious but a bit awkward...I mean that's expected with me rejecting Jacob and the other guys.
I face palm before gesturing at the diner next door, "Wanna get lunch?"
The energetic red head begins to drool, "Heck yeah! Burgers and milkshakes on me."
I begin to walk out of the arcade but Max catches up with me and grabs my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. I stare at our hands and blush a little. Since it's our first official date as boyfriend and girlfriend, I'm not completely used to this whole dating thing yet. "Well let's go." He smiles.

We follow the waitress to a booth with red cushions on both sides of a small mint colored table. I take a seat first and expect Max to sit in front of me but he sits next to me instead. My curious expression seems to catch his attention.
"I...um...this way we can be closer to each other, ya know." He blushes happily. His cheesy comment leaves butterflies in my stomach.
"Y-yeah." I respond.
The menus sit at the edge of the table and Max takes one and hands it to me before opening his own. "Hmmm man all that gaming calls for a mega-sized chocolate milkshake. What are you going to get Mae?"
My eyes flow across the menu. So many options look good but one stands out, "Definitely this one." I point at it on the menu.
The waitress comes by to take our order and Max orders his mega-sized chocolate milkshake and cheeseburger with a side of dinosaur shaped nuggets (call him a child but I think it's adorable. Let the man eat his dinosaur-shaped processed chicken goo).
"And for you, miss?" The waitress asks as she scribbles down Max's order.
"Can I get an order of chicken tenders with a side of cheesy fries-" I hesitate for a second before adding..."Make that an extra large order of cheesy fries with extra cheese." I feel pretty good about my order before glancing over at Max. His eyes are wide.
"U-uh.." I start to feel ashamed of my unhealthy eating habits and try to formulate some kind of excuse to justify ordering extra large fries with extra cheese.
"THAT'S AWESOME." Max exclaims, completely throwing me off.
"W-what?"
"This is exactly why i love you." He beams causing the butterflies in my stomach to go crazy. Can you guys just calm down?!
"Alright, I assume you won't be needing two straws then." The waitress giggles before walking to the kitchen with our orders.
Max gets a little flustered by her comment but smiles at me, "You're okay with sharing the same straw right?"
"Sure." I reply, feeling a little more comfortable with him although the flying bugs in my stomach are going into panic mode.
"Thanks." He says, resting his chin on his arm that's on the table. His bright blue eyes look directly into mine.
"For what?"
"...You know..for picking me." His eyes sparkle a little, "I know i'm not as smart, rich, athletic, or talented as the other guys."
"Max, that's not true." I counter, "You have your own positive traits that make you special to me. You're selfless, generous, and whenever I'm with you, I have a lot of fun." I start to recall all the times Max has helped me out, saving me from falling into the snow, picking out a prom dress with me, and ...especially when he tried to save me but was injured in the cafe fight. Although he hasn't known me for that long, he was willing to go above and beyond for me and although he's a a bit clueless and dorky, he's genuine and kind-hearted. That's why in the end, it had to be Max.
Max perks up, my response leaves him speechless but glowing. He takes a second before his smile returns to him. "Mae...that makes me so happy I could kiss you." He turns away, embarrassed by his own statement.
Before I can stop the words from tumbling out of my mouth,
"Then do it."
I gasp at what I had just said. Oh shit SHIT SHIT SHIT.
"Huh what did you say." Max turns back to look at me. Oh thank god, he didn't hear me. I let out a sigh of relief.
After finishing our food and fighting over the bill, Max makes one last request before we head home. "Let's go back to the arcade just for a minute."
Holding hands, we walk past various arcade game machines before stoping in front of the claw machine filled with an assortment of different stuffed animals.
"What are we doing?" I ask.
"Just give me a second." Max says confidently before slipping a few coins into the coin slot of the machine. "This is one game that I can win."
I laugh a little at his comment knowing that a crane game s practically the last game that one could win based on skill. However, to my astonishment, in the few tries that Max makes he's already gotten two prizes.
"One for you and one for me." he smiles and hands me a green spike-y looking plush. I examine the plush and realize that it's a small green dinosaur complete with darker green scales going down its back. I glance at the other plush in Max's arms and realize that it's a grey ape.
"Godzilla and King Kong, remember? By the way I gave you the better one." He teases.
I suddenly remember the first night we left work together and our monster movie conversation. That was so long ago...I can't believe he still remembers.
"Thanks, I love it."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On the way home, Max stops and looks at me. There's a weird look on his face like he's planning to do something.
"What? Did the butterflies escape?" I reply spontaneously, a little nervous by his expression.
"What?"
"What?"
Max chuckles out of confusion. He gently leans his plush up against mine. "Look they are kissing."
"Oh haha I guess they ar–", before I can finish my sentence, Max presses his lips against mine. They're warm and I can feel his auburn hair brush against my face. Although my heart is beating 3000 times a second, I instinctively close my eyes and sink into his warmth.
Yep. I definitely made the right choice.
Ending: Godzilla X King Kong
