*Next morning*
No matter how Ducan put it, I still can't help feeling stressed. I mean, whenever I looked at him, I would think about his confession. How could I see him as a friend like before?
"Did something happen between both of you?" Falice nudged her head towards the front, where Zander and Ducan were monitoring a pair.
Was it really that obvious?
"Uh..."
"Did you..."Falice paused for awhile. "Confess?"
"What? No it's not me!" I said a little too loudly and clamped my hand around my mouth immediately.
Those nearby turned their heads towards our direction, including Ducan.
Falice looked taken aback by my answer. "So...he was the one who confessed?"
Shit.
"Uh..." I shifted from one foot to the other uncomfortably.
I was aware of the curious eyes lingering on us.
"Did you accept it?" Falice asked, a little too eager.
"You seemed to be very interested in my relationship affairs..." I raised.
"I'm sorry, am I being too nosey? I didn't mean to invade your privacy. I just got caught up in the excitement of making a friend and all...You're my first friend, you know?" She sounded embarrassed.
I was beyond shocked by her revelation. I'm her first friend? How about Senon and the rest?
"I know you're different since the day I first met you, Fortis. You really cared about my leg injury. You don't sugar-coat your words like they do. I know that they only bothered to talk to me because of my appearance."
When I first saw her, I was actually a bit jealous of her looks. However, now that I heard her true thoughts and feelings, I suddenly felt superficial and guilty.
"And you're not stuck up too, even though you're a leader."
"That's because I don't have the ability to be arrogant?" I suggested.
She laughed, reminding me of the tinkling of wind chimes. "You know what I mean."
I cracked a smile.
"And you..." Falice was about to continue when I interrupted her.
"If you continue to praise me, I'm afraid my head might swell too big and cause me to lose my balance during training."
"Haha okay, let's train."

*After breakfast*
"Fortis, are you free now?" a voice came from beside me as I walked past the doors.
I startled.
"Oh hi Ducan. Do you need anything?"
"Just want to hang out together. It's been a long time since we last had a proper chat."
His confession rang in my ears and I felt my face heating up.
"Uh...I actually have something on. I already made plans with Falice," I smiled apologetically.
"Oh," his voice was low with disappointment.
