Leaf mews for her Mother, who went out hunting for her and her kits. "How about this? Three kits!" A voice purrs, and a ginger tabby slinks from the shadows. Her right eye is missing, and her left ear is missing. There are notches in her right ear. Her pelt shines, despite living in a alleyway. "I'm Ginger, and I'm going to be your new Mother!" She purrs, picking Leaf up. "What's your name, little one?" Ginger asks. "My name's Leaf!" The little she-cat mews. "4 moons old. Good, Good. Have you had any battle training yet? You're gonna need it for the bumpy road ahead." Ginger mews, walking off with Leaf.
"Leaf? LEAF!" Leaf's Mother, Suncloud, rushes forward. "Momma!" Leaf mews, trying to jump off Ginger. Ginger turns, sees Suncloud, and puts Leaf down. "I should've known they were yours, Suncloud." Ginger hisses. "Stay there, Leaf." Ginger whispers, then turns to Suncloud. "Leaf, you look so much like your father. I can't let you go." Suncloud meows. "Well, Suncloud, you know the punishment of a Clan cat and BloodClan mating. Tooth knew that, and but you didn't. Why don't you run back to your little clan, and tell them where you've been all these moons?" Ginger asks. Suncloud winces, dropping her head.
"I know what I did broke the warrior code. You can't take Leaf away from me, she's all I have left of Tooth!" Suncloud pleads. "Leaf won't even remember you when she's gone." Ginger hisses, lashing out her paw at Suncloud. Suncloud rolls out of the way, and swipes at Ginger's paws. "ThunderClan training has never deserted me!" Suncloud yowls, slashing at Ginger's underbelly. "It will once you're dead!" Ginger hisses, sinking her teeth into Suncloud's hind leg. Suncloud yowls in pain, and Leaf hears bone against Ginger's teeth.
"I'll go with Ginger! Just please stop!" Leaf yowls, not wanting to see anymore fighting. Ginger releases Suncloud, and pads over to Leaf, her ear perked. "Really? Suncloud, you may live then." Ginger mews, dipping her head to the yellow mackerel.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you, Leaf. May StarClan light your path." Suncloud mews. Leaf smiles, knowing StarClan would watch over her.
