Chapter 28:

Hayes' POV
"C'mon Hayes, please." Angele begged as we walked out of the bathroom.

I shook my head no. She bumped into my side, making me stumble slightly.

"How about we make a deal?" I offered.

"Oh dear, now I'm worried." She laid on my bed.

"You should be." I smirked.

"Are you going to tell me the deal or not?"

"I will tell you on the last day of camp."

Angele grew really quiet, and turned her gazed to the floor. Great now what did I do?

"What?" I asked sitting next to her.

"I'm leaving camp tomorrow.. "

"What?" I asked as my heart fell.

"My dad just found out he's deploying in three days and I want to see him as much as possible before he leaves."

"Oh..." Is all I could say.

How could I be mad at her for wanting to be with her dad? Family comes first.... Right?

"It might be the last time I get to see him." Angele's voice started to crack. I knew tears were about to follow. I turned and pulled her into my chest. I rubbed her back lightly as she cried.

"He's going to be okay." I whispered.

"Six months, Hayes. That's a long time."

"It'll at be over before you know it."

"I hope so..." She cried slightly harder.

"It will. And if it doesn't.. You can slap me." I smiled.

She pulled away and looked up at me. Her eyes red and puffy, "Why would I do that?"

"Because I'd be a liar."

She laughed.

"There's that smile." I wiped a stray tear away.

"I got tears all over your shirt." She laughed slightly.

"Eh. I'm used to it. Also it was dirty anyways." I stood and took the t-shirt off, throwing it into a plastic bag. I pulled out another shirt.

"Hayes?"

"Hmm.." I responded pulling the new shirt on.

"Can I tell you something crazy?"

"I love crazy." I responded quoting one of my sister's favorite movies.

"Frozen, really?"

"Dang.. I thought I was being clever! What's up?"

"I didn't want to come here but now I don't want to leave."

With that last sentence she got up and left the room.
